Been disappointed by politicians my entire life, but none as devastating as @wutrain.bsky.social turning her back on us. Emphasis on the us. Michelle Wu was different, a rare standout who didn't just talk, but walked the walk, biked the bike and T'd the T. She understood us because she was us.

Motorists act like people who hate cars never drove or used them. Often the opposite. We hate car dominance because we lost a lot of time in cars and we've realized there was never any freedom behind the windshield and that true freedom is outside. We seem crazy because we escaped the matrix.
I'm somewhat an example of this. I was not an urbanist. Didn't care about city transportation, and had a background in farming where my vehicle was a large truck. Arriving in the Netherlands changed me unexpectedly. I saw what cities could be and that car dominance didn't help us, it hurt us.
There’s a lot of space for greenery on our streets if you just reallocate a bit from cars.
Strong take, but I don't think you can truly appreciate the beauty of NYC if you don't ride micromobility. It's integral to the experience
It's a public safety emergency at this stage. It's time to drastically reduce the amount of cars on the road. How will ambulances and fire trucks get to where they need when we allow people to haphazardly leave motorized living room sets wherever they please, for no good reason. Reduce cars now.
Happy 4th of July, we lit the Brooklyn Bridge on fire and FDNY couldn't respond well because of all the cars in the way. America, fuck yeah.
Banning able bodied American men from driving cars would solve approximately 65% of the world's problems.
The average speed of a car driving in Boston is 13MPH. That is slower than the average speed of an adult on a pedal bike. Boston should block a bunch of streets from car access to create continuous corridors for the faster vehicles, bikes, to move free of the endangerment and obstruction of cars.
Is Boston traffic getting better? Congestion down 10%, study finds.
Drivers lost three full days due to traffic, a study found, but there is good news on the roads.

Amtrak Downeaster ends at North Station. MBTA Commuter Rail to Providence leaves from South Station. 🚆 So I trainmaxxed it: Orange Line to Downtown Crossing & Red Line to South Station. 🚇🟠🔴 PLEASE BUILD THE NORTH–SOUTH RAIL LINK!! 🙏🏽
Over 1 million Americans have been killed by car violence since 2000.
Reminder that any remotely rational "MAHA" would focus on cars. Cars sicken & kill Americans far far more than f'ing "processed foods" or whatever.
Half of what makes rural/suburban cycling in the Netherlands so safe and pleasant is their extreme commitment to grade separation.
The final - still nameless - tunnel in the F2 continuous cycle route from Zaltbommel to ’s-Hertogenbosch was opened this afternoon by representatives of the province of Gelderland (centre) and the municipality of Zaltbommel (right). The builder (left) was allowed to pose with them for the press.
I'm rooting for the Knicks because I want Mayor Mamdani to be happy 😊
My hot take is we should not make nor sell cars that exceed the speed limit AND we should create a massive army of people armed with rocket launchers to go around and retroactively put speed limiters on all cars.

Not riding a bike is MORE DANGEROUS than riding a bike without a helmet.
Nothing gives me more hope for America than walking the streets of NYC. There's bikes everywhere, pedestrians exerting dominance over cars, people everywhere, shops everywhere. The subway! Every type of human being, all mixing together to make something stronger and better than its parts.
Portland Oregon just does not need as many five lane roads as it has. One could even argue it barely needs any.
You can visit PBOT's 'online open house' for 122nd Ave improvements, but if you are like me, you will notice that very little proposed will allow for cool and shady protected micromobility accessible to families, or decrease surface temps due to excess asphalt www.portland.gov/transportati...
What's the best bike shop in Brooklyn, Manhattan or NYC for kids? Looking for new helmets for my 1 year old and 3 year old and pedal bike for my 3 year old.
Some ideas for second term of @mayorwu.boston.gov: -bulldoze Boston Common & the Public Garden & replace it with a multi level parking garage -eminent domain South Station & Back Bay & make the T terminate their dirty commuter rail outside of Boston -bulldoze the Esplanade & widen Storrow Drive
"Those who use the roads should pay for the roads." "In fiscal year 2025 alone, the gap between what drivers paid in and what roads cost hit $30.6 billion."
The roughly one-third of Americans who don’t drive—seniors who’ve stopped, people with disabilities, low-income households who can’t afford a car, people in transit-served cities—are subsidizing infrastructure they use little or not at all. www.fastcompany.com/91540490/gas... @fastcompany.com

Dartmouth finally paved from Boylston to Comm. Looking forward to @mayorwu.boston.gov’s and @streets.boston.gov’s promised and designed extension of the two-way SBL. Public transit is the most powerful affordability tool within the provincial government's control, but the BC NDP is overlooking it.

Not only do kids deserve freedom of movement we should frankly prioritize it. Streets that are safe for kids are safe for everyone else too. For too long "adults" have prioritized only speed and only viewed transportation through the lens of "grown ups" and we've all suffered for it.
One thing that's cool about the Mamdani bike bus is that it goes beyond just centering bicyclists (and pedestrians) and focuses on the fact that children have a right to move around cities safely without fear of cars. Kids deserve freedom of movement.

Fucking love this guy. Can we get him to give out trainings to other mayors on how to be the GOAT?
Rode the Bergen Bike Bus today to make a big announcement: We’re redesigning Bergen Street and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave — adding new bike boulevards and more pedestrian space. Safer rides to school for New York City kids coming soon.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area. (15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.
Why is it that in New York City, one of the most expensive pieces of land anywhere, someone who can afford a car gets to park it for free but someone who takes the train, something that benefits everyone, has to pay $3 each way for the privilege?
