i started this train of thought as a joke but now i do think there's something to the idea that the way to sell the green revolution to the US public is that we're being denied Good Deals on cheap chinese cars and solar panels and there's nothing more unamerican than saying we can't have a good deal

Almost whenever I overhear people talking about ML in public (omg it's so often) it tends to be "I can't believe people use it for <xyz advertized but silly case like 'write my wedding vows'>" followed by their discussion of using it ***extensively*** in the tedious part of their own work

it's unfortunate that short-form text seems to mostly just have reddit, nearly my least favorite platform, because it's so much easier to link long-form text through it
