I know this is not what we are most upset about but I'm just so mad that at the same time as grants became Not A Thing Anymore we also lost all the fellowships that support students and postdocs in science. just absolutely trampling over the STEM career pipeline in the US
Excited to see this out in print now! Led by @hengxingzou.bsky.social this work empirically shows that the "Consequences of phenological shifts are determined by the number of generations per season." & how this relates to coexistence mechanisms. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

1. The new Trump / Kratsios plan for US science appears explicitly designed to destroy US universities. Diverting money to tech donors is probably just a bonus. Gift link.
Trump’s Plan for Science: More Money for A.I., Less for Universities (Gift Article)
Michael Kratsios, President Trump’s science adviser, proposed overhauling how the government funds research. Democrats said Mr. Trump’s actions had weakened science.

Over the last month I saw that human editors are now stripped of control. I could no longer stop the system from auto-inviting "reviewers" with zero relevant expertise. Even worse - the AI began actively revoking the invitations I manually sent out to actual, qualified experts.
