Like millions of Americans, I work to manage my mental health daily. I’ve long ignored my need for more help. That’s why I’m sharing some personal news. I’m taking a leave from the City for a month to get help at a rigorous outpatient program for clinical depression and anxiety.

Situation resolved. For folks in the area, it’s safe to return. There’s still a large law enforcement presence as they continue to process the scene.
I'm tracking the situation on 28th and Nicollet as the Sheriff’s Office was executing a search warrant. Access points are closed while law enforcement secure the scene. First responders are asking the public to avoid the area for the safety of the public and first responders.

There’s nothing about Council Member Chughtai’s work on Uptown Safety Ambassadors and construction hardship program that she authored (Mayor Frey has not implemented). Nor her work on the Rise Up Center and other Uptown programs she authored. Any reason why only one council member was mentioned?
Mayor Frey can thank Minneapolis Public Housing Authority & affiliated nonprofit Community Housing Resources for 43 filings yesterday. Significant bump in Mpls filings the past few days. Approximate* Minneapolis eviction filings 3/1 thru 3/11: 2025: ~54 2026: ~237 A 339% increase compared to 2025.
We heard loud and clear from homeless shelters and affordable housing providers around the city the best route to move forward was immediate cash assistance to help neighbors stay in their homes—not blunt measures that put people greater into debt. We’re doing that with $1M in rental assistance.
Hear directly from Aliya Rahman, who was brutally pulled from her car and assaulted by ICE on her way to a doctor’s appointment, on the importance of extending the pre-eviction notice to 60 days. We are proud to have passed this policy today and are calling on Mayor Frey to sign it immediately.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Everything they’ve said about this illegal occupation has been built on a lies. We need accountability for our neighbors and for this whole corrupt department to be dismantled. Stay out there, keep your connection to one another, and only believe your eyes.
Another addition to the website to help us built *systems* and not just have me trying to do everything alone: If you'd like to adopt a rent that you can either *cover immediately* and fundraise for, or just pay outright, please fill out this form and we will contact you via Signal.

Rest in peace Renee Good. Thank you for supporting our immigrant neighbors. You’ll always be our hero. 🕊️ 💜
I’m on the scene at Franklin and 1st. A convoy of about a couple dozen ICE/HSI agents broke the entryway into an apartment building at 6am. No warrant presented. Less than 24 hours ago, Tom Homan announced the end of large convoys in Minnesota… Bullshit.
Abolish ICE. There’s no reforming it. There’s no compromise. There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.
City council member here, it’s the treatment we are used to at this point. It’s unfortunate but that’s culture at the City of Minneapolis. When we want to get a press conference that’s city of mpls supported we have to fight for it, and jump through hoops. Just to name one thing.
This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/
"We are under federal occupation right now by our own government." Minneapolis Councilmember @aishaforward10.com told @deanobeidallah.bsky.social what it's like living in Minneapolis right now. ☎️: 866-997-4748 🔊: siriusxm.us/Dean
ICE kidnapped a permanent resident in Minnesota today. They let the individual go after realizing they had authorization. Don’t be fooled, ICE is still discriminating against our neighbors based on the color of their skin. 1/
@governorwalz.mn.gov, I’m thrilled to read via fundraising text that you’ll never stop defending Minnesotans. I agree: your constituents are meeting this moment. We need you to defend us. Come Feb 1st, you can keep vulnerable families in their homes by enacting a statewide eviction moratorium NOW.
Local government is the first line of service and last line of defense for our communities. Your local officials are working to get you regular updates about what’s happening on the ground. Check out our briefing today about what’s happening in Whittier: www.youtube.com/live/aiC9-i1...

This neighbor really needs our help. In the absence of @governorwalz.mn.gov enacting an eviction moratorium, our only tool for keeping families in their homes safe from abductions is crowdfunding.
Can you help us keep this Minneapolis neighbor and her family safe from ICE? One of her daughters has been on the frontline while also working to bring back neighbors kidnapped by ICE back to Minneapolis. It’s time for us to also show up for them. gofund.me/6228ad4b3
Even in our grief, our community continues to follow in the example of Alex Pretti: loving our neighbors and doing everything we can to support them. No matter what, ICE will not break our spirit. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
It’s a privilege to represent an ~80% renter community. The most vulnerable of my constituents, along with vulnerable renters across the Southside and Minneapolis, are at risk of losing their homes come the 1st when rent is due. We need @governorwalz.mn.gov to enact an eviction moratorium NOW.
Around 9 a.m. this morning, federal agents executed one of our neighbors, Alex Pretti, at 26th and Nicollet in Whittier, in the community I represent. This is the second neighbor murdered in South Minneapolis by ICE in less than three weeks.
Kristi Noem has been spotted in Minnesota. Her presence is not welcomed by our neighbors. In Minnesota, we love our immigrant neighbors. And our community will continue to patrol our neighborhoods and defend the rights of our immigrant community. 1/
Ran into one of my neighbors who lives in the apartment building next door. We met last year when he was my Lyft driver! He talked to me then about how important our work to raise wages and working conditions for drivers was. Today, he told me how proud he was to vote for me 🥹♥️
Happy Election Day, Minneapolis! Grateful to continue the tradition of voting with my neighbors, this time with the littlest addition to our crew, Sabina. If you’re voting in person today, reply with your precinct/polling place, the time you voted, and what voter number you were!
The energy in the city is inspiring. The people are ready for change — together, we will elect a new Mayor to work alongside our progressive City Council majority to build an affordable city accountable to us. Join me and @ilhanmn.bsky.social at 5pm today at Sabathani for a rally and doorknock!
Hennepin Avenue is the first major policy issue I worked on as a new Council Member in 2022. As we re-open this street today, knowing how critical it is to revitalizing Uptown, I’m reflecting on the advocacy of the Ward 10 community in making this generational investment possible.
It was a great afternoon with @omarfatehmn.com @aishaforward10.com and @jason4parks.bsky.social talking with neighbors about a city that works together for all of us!
Workers are the backbone of Minneapolis. We all deserve a stable, living-wage job, free of intimidation and wage theft. Union members are supporting me because I’m their #1 champion at City Hall. I’m hitting the doors with them to talk to neighbors about our vision this week 🧵👇🏽
