Today the City Council voted on whether or not MPD should apply for a grant with the DOJ for National Integrated Ballistic Information Modernization program. This would give the City $300,000 to upgrade our technology connected to the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network.

Beautiful new memorial on Central Ave honoring Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and all those murdered by ICE. At this very spot someone was taken the morning Tom Homan announced a “draw down” in Minnesota. To this day, ICE continues to operate here.
It was good to see @jchavezmpls.bsky.social and @elliottpayne.org at yesterday’s Trans Refuge State rally yesterday. I’m grateful for elected officials who stand up for our trans friends and neighbors here in Minnesota – we need more like them ❤️
Thanks to everyone for reaching out about how important it is to them for Pilllar to stay open. I’m happy to report that we’ve found a path forward for them to open back up their venue side tomorrow!! The massive show of community support all across the city for Pilllar was so heartening to see.

They were working on the problem but the City decided they can’t host music anymore. Pillar was there for us every day during the Surge. Chip in a couple bucks so they can pay staff.
This tool is awesome. I wanted to submit an intersection/street for traffic calming (22nd and 4th by Grumpys) and if you go enter an address, it’ll tell you what authorities are responsible and if there is already traffic calming work underway! Deadline is August 1, get submitting!!!

Today I voted against contracting with the drone company Skydio and I was proud the City Council voted down working with a company that contracts with ICE. Metro Surge was a test of our constitutional rights. Opening up the door to further erosions of our civil liberties would be a massive mistake.
Looking forward to joining Council President Payne to talk about our work on Minnesota’s version of a red flag law- Extreme Risk Protection Orders, or ERPOs. Come learn about this important tool to prevent gun violence.
