Loving the swing on DIGGER from “what a bomb!” to “what if it’s good, actually!?”. Still can’t decide if I liked it. Might even have to see it again…

Basking in the afterglow of an all-timer Hardly Strictly Bluegrass this past weekend in Golden Gate Park. New and old favorite artists singing new and old favorite songs, hanging with new and old friends, in perfect weather. All the things a festival should be! #HSB

Sorry, sorry, I like Don Cab okay but sometimes math rock sounds like three different cars tuned to different stations with their doors open in an underground parking garage, but it's okay because the most normal men in the world are here to explain how time can be fun to you.

All it takes is a few days of active engagement on these apps to remember that it’s mostly an exercise in badly landing jokes and literal responses to abstractions that never meant anything in the first place be still we march on lord forgive us all

Can’t tell if lack of baseball posting in my feed is just because the M’s are out, or if there’s genuinely not a team to root for as fun as last year’s Blue Jays

i'm reminded that when "social media" started it was called "social networking," and i'd always thought the shift was arbitrary. but i recently realized it's because networking is concrete, it's a direct method for forming relationships. media is definitionally an abstraction of reality.

I somehow managed to miss out for decades on Jon Hassell’s incredible Eno/Lanois-produced ECM album—spiraling minimalist ethno-chug of the highest order—so I am now urging you not to make the same tragic mistake.

Spending the afternoon in Santa Monica to beat the heat before night 2/3 of Jeff Parker IVtet. LA: not bad! Especially thanks to rail transit (shout out to Metro A/D/E and Metrolink VC lines)

Again, woke 1 was not silly. None of the things that Black people asked for were inappropriate or unnecessary. Y'all just stopped listening to Black people, and started talking amongst yourselves about what you thought woke was. Then you called that silly. You listen to nazis over Black people.🤷🏿‍♂️

My newsletter continues this week with a piece asking some folks who play the music of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia the question of why GD/JG connects with them and why the band is still connecting with people six decades on. www.isthisrealpdx.com/the-enduring...

Really good trolling would be to go see Picnic at Hanging Rock with some friends and then 35 minutes in get up and leave the theater and disappear and never be seen again by anyone in their entire life
