The actual harsh truth about MAHA is that it is an anti-vaxx, anti-science, pro-diarrhea conspiracy movement. It cloaks its arguments in abstractions about "big pharma" and "free speech" to generate *the exact op-ed The Atlantic keeps publishing*. Movements like this need to be fought, not placated.

I was maybe 11 or 12. My dad pulled me along to see a business partner of his. The partner's adult son was into emulation and making MIDI remixes of game songs. This opened a whole new world for me.

the thing about public libraries is that they are—or at least many of them are—the one unrestricted public space in which children are treated with something approaching full civic equality with all other people. And they sense that. Our children’s room is the liveliest space in our library. 📚

maybe this is unpopular but I'd love libraries that kids aren't allowed in. truly don't want to be interrupted by running, crying, & yelling while i'm working/reading.

Guess what, folks? After a long, blessed spring/summer lull, COVID-19 is picking up again in Indianapolis (and elsewhere), just in time for #GenCon. The ventilation at ICCLOS is NOT adequate to handle Gen Con's crowds. Do yourself and others a favor: use azelastine and MASK UP.

As of July 20, the US has 10 COVlD outbreaks. ✴️1 in 243 Americans estimated actively infectious ✴️200,000 estimated new daily infections ✴️Enduring outbreaks persist in Texas + Guam ✴️Outbreaks in the Bay Area (CA), NV, ID, CO, KS, KY, SC, HI Details in Alt text. pmc19.com

The US has 10 hot spots. There are major outbreaks across much of Texas (high/very high). Houston, denoted by the light blue county in the southeast (Harris) has 1-2 week reporting lags so may be worse than noted. Hardin county, two counties over to the east/northeast, has BA.1 Omicron-level transmission. The Texas surge is bleeding into estimates for western Louisiana. The Guam surge persists, and there are 7 other outbreaks: the Bay Area of California (Alameda, high); northeastern Nevada (Washoe, high); southeast Idaho (Bannock, very high); northern/western Colorado (Mesa to Routt, high/very high); central Kansas (Reno, high); north central Kentucky (Jefferson to Fayette, high/very high); southern South Carolina (Jasper, high), and Hawai'i (Kauai, very high). The Kauai outbreak is similar to BA.1 Omicron-level transmission.
