Hierarchy of needs. No political party can take control of government and support the existence of a secret police dedicated to imprisoning or killing its voters. If a party won't protect you from imprisonment or murder, what use are its other ideological promises?

Given how close the primary was, it seems likely she could have won if she had held the exact same policy positions but refused campaign money from AIPAC. Hard to imagine other Dem politicians not noticing and learning the lesson.

as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

Vance is the ultimate too online guy in the admin and this argument is too online. In the same way calling Talarico gay/trans is not persuasive to the voters, calling El-Sayed a terrorist or Muslim or whatever is preaching to the choir (Trump+100).

Whatever differences we might've had in the primary pale in comparison to what unifies us. All of us have to come together to make sure that we never let Mike Rogers see the US Senate.
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: Mike Rogers is a guy who wants to put a data center in your backyard so he can feel a bit more manly by making an AI video. If you want a senator who's gonna lick some boots, go vote for Rogers. But if you want a senator who's going to stand up to Trump, you've got your option.

re: data centers, I think ppl are right that its a glonzo that definitely has the potential to come back & bite cities/localities in the ass bc it hinges on NIMBY sentiment, but, even given that, its kinda crazy that Rs are looking at how unpopular they are & are like "yep! Still pro-data center!"

While Rogers lost by a small margin, that was with Trump on the ballot. Repubs haven’t won a major statewide election in Michigan 10+ years. With straight ticket voting, a Dem leaning year, outreach to Black voters, and reconciliation, many Dems who voted against AES in the primary will support him.
Marcelius Braxton@marceliusb.bsky.social · 8h agoThere will be lots of talk about whether Abdul El-Sayed will underperform compared to a moderate, but in 2024, Slotkin ran as a moderate in Michigan and didn’t even outperform Harris. Rogers just underperformed compared to Trump. The idea that centrists are necessary or solve all problems is false.
