I had no money growing up. Luckily, all my favourite things were free. Friends, nature & learning. This was the local library. Sometimes I was the only one in it. Sometimes the odd drunk popped in to vomit. Anyway, it all turned out OK.
When in Northumberland it is a must to visit Barter Books - this glorious secondhand bookshop is in an old train station, with model trains running on tracks over the top of the bookcases, merry coal fires, & a gracious plenty of velvet seats to have a little ink drinking time...
