Vote for Tamatha Paul, who immediately put out a call for support for organisations who are on the frontlines of an increase in “people in our communities sleeping out in the open in sub zero conditions through freezing southerlies, hail, rain and flooding”. 👇 Link: www.instagram.com/reel/DbmeuHu...

tamathapaul Plug for anyone who is in a position to give to consider a koha to organisations like @dcm_wellington, @te_whare_nukunoa, @salvationarmynzfts and
@wellingtoncitymission who are ramping up their efforts to distribute sleeping bags, warm clothes and hot kai over winter.
I know DCM are about to launch an appeal to help fund crisis accommodation for rough sleeping whānau so please follow them and give where you can.
The number of people in our communities sleeping out in the open in sub zero conditions through freezing southerlies, hail, rain and flooding is increasing.
A reminder that this government has made it harder for people to access emergency accommodation and have left these same people to freeze to death on the streets because apparently it is "their own fault that they are homeless". We can fix this when we boot them out in less than 100 days but for now, let's get in behind our local organisations on the frontline who can act now with our support. A

Lessons for NZ - apparently datacentres in Ireland draw =23% of the country's power and household power bills have gone up 600 Euros in the last year as a result. Use urged from 5% of national electricity demand in 2015 to 23% in 2025. Forecast to exceed 30%

one last call: I want to talk to you if you’ve ever lost a big save in animal crossing/stardew valley, one that you were heavily invested in. For a forthcoming Verge story. DMs open, email in bio. Thanks so much.

Rant incoming. There are people losing their minds over the cost of the SOAD & Faith No More concert. I know Reddit ain’t the place to go for “NUANCED FUCKING TAKES”…HOWEVER…y’all cannot bitch & whine when we don’t get big acts here, & when we DO get a big act, bitch & whine about the ticket cost.

I got to have a few conversations with Sam Neill. He was one of those famous people who is exactly what you want them to be — just a great human being who genuinely loves what they do and enjoys sharing that passion with others. A huge loss for NZ's screen industry, and just NZ in general.

I call for a national holiday in Australia and New Zealand as we mourn one of the very best human beings of the past century, who also happend to be quite a dab hand at acting. Mine is one of so many broken hearts the world over - what a fucking mensch.

Sam Neill in Zulawski's Possession, his back turned to the camera with his hand on a window, looking outside. It feels final as fuck.

I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.
