I've seen a lot of people in my cohort in STEM fields completely lose enthusiasm about the space as it's shifted so much from "What if we made products and services people like" to enshittification, scammyness, gambling, AI, sucking up to fascists, etc.

Really feels like a lot of people my age that were so ambitious in their careers and doing incredible things have decided that it's not worth it anymore and are deciding to prioritize their personal lives instead and trying to retire early. It's anecdotal but I'm seeing this across the board.

One of the most blatant lies in a Mario-related game is "Tetris Attack inspired by original Tetris." In fact, Henk Rogers, the founder of the Tetris Company, literally regrets giving Nintendo the right to use the name "Tetris" because Tetris Attack has nothing to do with it.

In the ending to Tetris Attack, Yoshi walks along a rainbow while this text appears:
TETRIS ATTACK INSPIRED BY ORIGINAL TETRIS
Fact 1: Tetris Attack is a reskin of Panel de Pon, a game that has nothing to do with Tetris.
Panel de Pon:
swapping adjacent rising blocks to make lines of 3 to 5 blocks of the same color
Tetris:
steering and rotating falling blocks, the color of which is irrelevant, into full horizontal rows
The only commonality between the two is that they both use blocks.
Fact 2: Henk Rogers, founder of the Tetris Company, literally regrets giving Nintendo the rights to use "Tetris" for Tetris Attack because the game has nothing to do with Tetris.
"When Nintendo came to us, and said 'we would like to take this Japanese game called Panel de Pon, and rename it Tetris Attack', I'm saying, 'it's not Tetris'. But my partner's saying 'but it is money!' So, uhhhh, so, we, I, reluctantly agreed. In retrospect, we should never have done that. I don't think that's a good idea. It dilutes the brand, it's like naming another cartoon character Mickey Mouse just cause you need the money. It's just a bad idea. So I wouldn't do that again."
