i think one big failing of games is that we don't teach each other about learning design! i thought i'd write a thread about limited bandwidth and limited retention. this is actually really simple to understand. imagine a chessboard with a row of pawns and nothing else.

I‘m far from an AI doomer, but it is amazing how many serious voices — on LinkedIn, no less! — are sharing stories about how AI slop is quickly becoming one of the top problems they see in academic writing and research “AI will 10x our research!” doesn’t seem to be surviving encounters with reality

Plenty to reflect about re: the Arday affair, but I'm going to repeat this one thing. The playbook the right used here is effective even though it's not especially sophisticated, as it relies on the audience to do the dirty work. I have a dear historian friend who’s leaving academia for a different job. Instead of starting a podcast to bitch about it, he spent years organizing a faculty union. Instead of leaving academia to bitch more about it, he’s leaving to go do higher ed union organizing. Just something to chew on.

Unfair Flips added a developers commentary mode so I had to play it as soon as I found out. It then proceeded to make me cry, and give me a quote I feel like I need on, like, a cross-stich. Thanks @hthrflwrs.bsky.social!
