There may well be active duty troops in the Middle East right now who have family members locked in ICE jails. Congress authorized Military Parole-in-Place specifically to avoid this situation. But the Trump admin has shown little care to families caught in this situation.

"President Donald Trump’s administration has detained dozens of parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families to pursue its mass deportation agenda." https://bit.ly/4br4M4m

FYI Science Policy News: More U.S.-trained physicists are leaving the country, an exodus that adds to fears of a U.S. "brain drain" www.aip.org/fyi/physics-... a near-doubling of non-US citizens left the US after receiving their PhD, around 29%, in 2025 @aip.bsky.social

Physics PhDs Are Leaving the US at a Record-high Rate

The exodus of non-US citizens has “certainly” been influenced by science funding and visa policy changes under Trump, a new AIP report says.

Underneath solar panels, plants grew much more and used less water, "Chiltepin pepper plants produced three times as much fruit as those grown in full sun. Jalapenos matched their usual harvest while using 65 percent less water. Tomatoes grown under the array came in at twice the normal yield."

I first got 1000+ pages of court documents from Miller & Moreno's custody case. Anybody can request these from Cuyahoga County. I reviewed those by myself, one by one—no AI involved!—and the filings pointed to police reports. I then sought those out separately and spent days combing through them.

Regarding the Max Miller horrors: I worked with survivors of sexual assault for most of a decade. Many who experience partner violence are desperate to normalize relations with their abuser to avoid further harm to themselves, and are far more likely to do so if their child is also being assaulted.

We will never get to real democracy until public figures learn how to handle disingenuous concern-trolling by bad actors on behalf of people those bad actors don't actually give a shit about.

🧵 Who's profiting from the imprisonment of children at the Dilley ICE Camp? #1 is of course CoreCivic, which expects to generate $180M in revenue annually running the facility. 1/4

112 children are imprisoned at Dilley. The youngest child imprisoned at Dilley is 2 months old. None have committed any crime. Private investors make money for each new child taken into Dilley. We need to #ShutDownDilley and end family detention.

After 31 years of lifting, I finally have a gym nemesis. Lately I'm finding myself there with a guy who supersets by claiming two machines at once while somehow still resting before and after each set of the theoretical supersets and not wanting anyone to work in on either machine.

Everything is bad, but books are good. Get a book. Read the book. Cherish the book. Finish the book. Tell your friends about the book, and leave a review of the book. Hold the book close. Listen to what it tells you. Do as it commands. Place it on the dread altar and let it guide your every choice.

You can tell how badly conservative brains were broken by COVID with all the dissonance around the virus: “It was a deadly Chinese bioweapon that wasn’t actually dangerous. The real killer was the vaccine which murdered millions and we can thank Donald Trump for developing it so quickly”
