I run into this with manga sometimes but I think it's really telling when a lot of the women (plural) in a work are depicted as lying, one-dimensional, adulterous snakes and the men is depicted as innocent victims whose only sin (if any) his being too loyal to his awful partner

Less "I did not care for" and more "this game is good but not a classic to me" but FF6. Some pretty great gameplay systems and music but suffers from having too many characters and not a lot development between them. It's especially bad for Terra who spends so much of the game MIA
