SCOOP: #WSocial: a Broken Ghost Town? W Social has been experiencing major technical issues for over a week: it is effectively a ghost town, filled with thousands of new accounts that cannot use the platform. I discuss the problem and a possible solution here: blog.elenarossini.com/w-social-a-b...

W Social: a Broken Ghost Town?

W Social has been experiencing major technical problems for over a week: it is effectively a ghost town, filled with thousands of new accounts that cannot use the platform.

Andy and Michael R had some fun on this week's show just rewinding over recent games, trips, and a new work project. We hope you enjoy hearing what we've been thinking about, and tech we've been trying out. We'll get back to our usual news-and-links format next time!

e559 – Welcome to the Matrix

Michael R and Andy have a different format of discussion this time around, and it counts as a "geek out"! A catch up on Andy's current work project, homelabbing, games of interest, and more.

Gonna join the aircon discourse cos I looked into it recently out of curiosity. Here's what it would take to *install* air con in my 1960s London flat. 1. Freeholder permission. It would require knocking a hole in the wall of the building, which is not owned by me (even though I own the flat) 🧵

To summarize, AI will cause personal computers to cost $10,000, all applications are frozen to about 2025 design and implementation, power to run the computer will be twice the price and also you need to sign in with your passport to start your computer. Explain to me again how this is progress?

We're excited to have Andy Piper @andypiper.me join the team at The Matrix Foundation. 🎉 Andy is our Senior Developer Relations Engineer, working to support & encourage the broader Matrix ecosystem. You can expect to see them around the community over the coming weeks. Please offer a warm welcome!

e557 - The British are Coming! This week's episode has Andy welcome special guest host Ian "epredator" Hughes, to have a chat about some of the latest AAAA games, as well as observations about the UK-based origins of many of these franchises and studios. Take a listen!

e557 – The British are Coming!

Andy talks to fellow Brit Ian "epredator" Hughes about all things AAA gaming, all with a British slant - from IP, to studios, and actors. Plus, the fully-funded Virtual Worlds museum.

Excellent post from Laurens: European states are, right in front of our eyes, organising their own powerlessness. Why? It's baffling. CSAM? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Non-consensual nudification? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Progrom? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hel-lo?? Is anyone home?

new from me: on this week's riots in Belfast, Musk, and European states openly declining to defend their own sovereignty. What does it even mean to build digital sovereignty infrastructure when states themselves don't want to be sovereign? connectedplaces.online/reports/fr16...
