I hate sounding like a conspiracy person but there’s a reason that this Sophie Cunningham thing is on like day 7 of discourse and how there’s absolutely very little trans staff writers driving the news coverage of it.

I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.

It’s true, in the past I would have had multiple editors in my inbox asking me to write about the Cunningham stuff. I haven’t gotten a single assignment request. Trans writers used to be tokenized to write about these things but now that the topic is “mainstream,” those bylines go elsewhere.

A trans couple has been brutalized by a mob, and then the trans woman ended up being arrested afterwards, at a public bathroom in Louisiana. EITM writer S Baum investigates this horrible act of violence in our latest piece. www.erininthemorning.com/p/trans-coup...

Trans Couple Brutalized At Louisiana Park Bathroom, Then Charged By Police

An angry mob allegedly beat them. The police charged them. The municipality voted for one of the most severe anti-trans bathroom ordinances in the country.

honestly I'm pretty sure were it not for the genocide Israel's perception would have remained largely positive for the foreseeable future tens of thousands dead and expansionistic military adventurism on everyone's screens tends to make people have qualms about supporting you!

I mean this sincerely: I think pro Israel people really need to begin internalizing that this is not a fringe opinion anymore and in fact is very statistically likely to be the average view of any brown Democratic candidate for office or any candidate under the age of 50

Just now on @Morning_Joe:
@AbdulElSayed was asked by @WillieGeist whether his critique of Israel is about @netanyahu or Israel itself. He made it clear his problem is with Israel. Lots of references to
"apartheid" and "genocide" that
"pre-date" BiBi.

For my @xtramagazine.com column this month: "There are no trans women in the WNBA; there has never been an openly trans player in the WNBA... so it’s essentially impossible for a trans woman to play in the league or refute any of Cunningham’s statements." xtramagazine.com/power/politi...

The WNBA should have never let it come to this | Xtra Magazine

After Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham came out against trans women playing women’s sports, the league has allowed things to snowball

every time I think discourse here is the bottom of the barrel, I recall tiktok exists apparently the latest attempted gotcha to this stupid ongoing discourse about straight women refusing to date bi men from a place of unexamined homophobia is asking straight men whether they'd date bi men

personally i still hate "vote blue no matter who" regardless of whether leftists or centrists win, but it's quite amusing to see centrists and liberals suddenly opposing the "vbnmw" line they've been pushing for the past several years now that their candidates aren't winning primaries

the most expected thing about the replies and reposts of this is that the *only* people lauding this and healing praise on k. jennings are people who aren't trans it's like when white people fall over themselves accepting apologies on behalf of asians after one of their ilk talks about the gooks

I saw yesterday that some right-wing outlets were running stories about me, which I’m used to. But this time I’m going to say something about it, because these were framed to imply that I was aligned with their own transphobia. ⬇️

One of the bigger problems the 2025 ruling has introduced is establishing that, instead of resolving equality cases based on trying to as best as possible integrate everyone's right to be treated humanely, we use philosophical debates about what someone's true legal essence is to decide rights.

web.archive.org/web/20260108... Here's an archive link of the original business guidance in case the original goes missing. In pretty clear terms the original guidance used to say stuff like "obviously, so long as the changing rooms allow privacy, trans women should be permitted to use the womens"

Mike Rogers and John James will never be asked more than once about official statements from the leader of their party, while Abdul El-Sayed and Jocelyn Benson will constantly be grilled about a thing that they didn’t say but someone with six Twitter followers thinks is communism.

Abdul supporters, be ready to say “is that something he said, or is that something you heard he said?” Because when Van Jones is allowed to say he “declared open season on Israeli children,” our job is to point out the casual dishonesty that has and will be a hallmark of this race.

What exactly is the ask from Cunningham and Smith here? More leagues to proactively implement rules banning trans people? More anti-trans laws (that will be described as "protecting girls sports" but also include provisions that restrict trans rights in other aspects of life)?

This is why I said they never cared about women's sports, women, children, or even sports at all. It's always been about finding the barest plausibly deniable reason to start the program of women-as-property, eugenic genocides, forced birth bullshit. And it's not limited to Republicans at all.
