I am interested in how people advocate for a shift away from car-centric infrastructure. I write about design, UX and stories of freedom of movement from a genre and literacy studies foundation.

I think we all could have predicted this would happen … I’m just stunned at how quickly it did.

I was thinking this morning about how grateful I am for the work of women older than me.
As we elders, our daughters, and our granddaughters continue the fight for power, equality, and respect, we hold you in our hearts with love and gratitude. Rest in peace and power, Gloria Steinem. 🤍

Back in 1987, Steinem wrote about Dolly. Seems appropriate to share today.

I used to train for a half marathon for turkey holidays and a multiple day state ride in early summer, but my feet are resistant to the turkey run. Recently, I decided to set a goal for a multiple day ride in November, even if it’s only on the trainer. #aging.
September 1 is the academic January 1, What’s your resolution? Nat For the first time in a long time, cycling in September! Not the commuting or utility cycling but the road bike adventure and fun kind of cycling. Sam Like Nat, cycling into the fall! To be clear, I usually do keep riding, but I…
I am mulling my relation to the dutch bike, that colonial relation. Were the first bikes I ever admired in Africa Dutch in their origin? Probably. Do I still think that design the most comfortable? Also yes.
“I love the bicycle. I always have. I can think of no sincere, decent human being, male or female, young or old, saintly or sinful, who can resist the bicycle.” -William Saroyan, novelist Happy #BicycleBirthday, William! August 31 (1908-1981)
It's one (1) one flavor from one (1) brand Looks like some ink MIGHT have gotten into the product during handling, so they're recalling just in case. Let's keep in mind the Taco Bell principle on this one guys. "If a company proactively lets you know there MIGHT be a problem… that's a GOOD thing."
Not the tofu! Yes, tofu too.
The way we do Leftist indoctrination is that every prof voluntarily comes in for office hours on a Saturday so first-year students know they have an advocate before their first class. Then we hold candlelight (each speck of light is an incoming student) where seniors tell stories & sing songs.

Pet owners at risk of being ripped off by private equity firms as vet ownership rules change
Critics say changes by CMA will allow multinationals to obscure their ownership of vet practices Pet owners have been warned that they could be unknowingly ripped off by private equity firms who have bought local vet clinics, after the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) removed requirements for multinational companies to disclose which practices they own. The CMA recently ran an investigation into the monopolisation of vet practices, and found that the lack of competition and transparency of ownership had led to high prices and a lack of information for customers. Pet owners were often unaware their local vet practice could be owned by an international private equity company. Continue reading...

This ICE flight is making bad time for reasons unknown. It spent 4 1/2 hours on the ground in Senegal, where ICE charters generally do fuel/crew stops. Then flew 1 hour to Sierra Leone, a third-country removal. On the ground two hours and counting. All migrants shackled at least 19 hours so far.
An ICE Air flight (325-seat) is scheduled to depart Ft. Worth, TX for Senegal at 5:40pm local time today. Based on info from attorneys, we’re monitoring this flight for forced third country transfers to Central African Republic (CAR) and possibly other countries in the region.
Unreal. This is the largest critical mass I’ve ever been apart of. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Same aircraft, same departure airport, and same take-off time as last month's third-country removal route to Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, and Ghana. I'll have a story in @prospect.org about that hellish July 31 flight publishing Monday.

Guys, this is for real. Senate GOP and the administration want to pass a law that outlaws bikelanes on the 160K mile National Highway System. Imagine if adding protected bikelanes to many arterials would suddenly be against the law. Let’s not allow this.
ACTION ALERT 🚨 Right now, the Senate is considering adding language to the transportation reauthorization bill to restrict bike lanes. Tell Congress: funding for bike safety projects MUST continue! Take action: action.bikeleague.org/page/101946/...
Looks like we’re using Gitmo to imprison immigrants again. This is an ICE charter airline owned by ICE’s flight broker using the callsign they use for all their ICE flights.
