Microsoft wants to build three massive AI data centres in Leeds. It’ll drain thousands of litres of water from the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop the council's final sign-off, but we need more voices. Add your name: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/pr...

Stop the Microsoft AI megasite in Leeds!

Microsoft want to build three huge AI data centres at Skelton Grange. It would drain the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop it - add your name to the petition.

Lessons to be learned from the FE sector perhaps. Starved of funds since 2010 but now of course central to Burnham's plans for local democracy. "Second chance" often used by the likes of Gove et al to describe the sector says it all really.

We will- I have no doubt- look back at this as one of the greatest scandals of our time. It he killing of the golden goose for the UK. A destruction of one of the most profitable and successful sectors.Yet, for now all politicians have their head in the sand on this one… A critically important read.

Novara hasn't always been good on trans issues, which reminds me: another thing you could do is write directly to media outlets, especially left-wing ones, encouraging them to take the war on trans people more seriously. Anyway, here's Juliet Jacques on what to do: novaramedia.com/2026/05/29/t...

Trans Segregation Is Becoming Law. What Can We Do About It? | Juliet Jacques

‘Single-sex spaces’ must now exclude trans men and women, according to new guidance from the EHRC. We aren’t taking seriously just how dangerous this will be, write Juliet Jacques.

"Using AI to write not only nullifies the entire peer review concept – we’re here to workshop each other, not to workshop AI slop – it also guarantees a weakening of the muscles needed to wrestle with writing." I love to wrestle with writing, creative journey process is essential to human endeavour.

"The danger isn’t that AI will replace writers or render the workshop obsolete. It’s that students are becoming accustomed to bypassing the friction that once revealed their process."

France is mandating solar panels on every large commercial car park in the country — turning millions of square metres of idle asphalt into one of Europe's most productive clean energy assets. I have been mentioning this for months - they are shooting up on all the supermarket car parks.

The last few leaders were seriously flawed characters. At this point there’s nothing to stop Starmer going big. He has nothing to lose, at least he’d genuinely believe in what he’s doing and the country would be better off. Back in to the EU or as close as possible.

I would also note that Labour MPs were all happy to follow Starmer since the last GE and only recently, as polls declined, started to voice concerns. Where were their concerns about policy and party direction before?

Contrary to Labour MPs saying people ‘hate’ Starmer, I don't hate him and their scape-goating of him misses the point. It is Labour policies and Brexit red lines that are the problem and I see no leadership candidate, indeed no Labour MP addressing that.

Reform is a protest party. A protest against decency, integrity, kindness, expertise, and progress. It's a party of pettiness and hate, and it is made up of petty and hateful people from the grassroots to the very top. What it doesn't have is competence. So good luck with the bins and potholes.

Great article filled with shocking details, such as ‘Craig Garrett….discovered that his then kindergartener had been reading to the Amira bot in class all year’ and ‘The city D.O.E. official overseeing the guidelines is a current recipient of a fellowship jointly offered by Google and GSV Ventures’.

‘The child brain’s tendency toward delightful non sequitur and unpredictable meanderings is not aligned with an L.L.M.’s orientation toward speed and sleekness and summary, toward frictionless, rational outcomes.’
