Sweet 8-year-old Bernie needs immediate placement with a foster/adoptive family because his caregiver is sick and can no longer take care of him. Details in the alt text.
Damn. This simple truth hits home doesn’t it
The reason I've gone more left in recent years is that I previously accepted that we simply couldn't afford decent cheap housing, heavily subsidised transport, a universal basic income, etc. Then in 20 years in politics I saw what we actually could afford. And it's a lot. It's just never for you.
“As we try to keep everyone cool and calm at the rescue centre during the heatwave, I thought I'd repost a compilation of everyone's favourite clips of the dogs choosing their own toys!” #rescuedog #toys #joy IG: @fetcherdog Animal Shelter, Kent, England
Ice says that these electric gloves are meant to "maintain compliance." Slave owners used to say the same thing about whips. If using shock collars on dogs is Animal Cruelty and Abuse, how is it fine for ICE to use Shock Gloves on people?
Their assets are frozen, construction is suspended, and their deal is under investigation for fraud. SMITE!

During a fire pit gathering last night my young shepherd mix bothered a skunk just outside the fence and got hit with consequences (in the face and chest poor puppy). Here he is after rinsing the de-stink solution. It’s his second skunking . Sigh.
This is Mystique. She is a good dog. She is a rescue. I have watched her chase and (attempt to) bite grizzly bears and tree mountain lions. Mystique is currently hiding in the bathroom because the air fryer timer beeped. You never know what you’ll get when you rescue an animal. #dog #rescuedog
My first ever harvest of garlic! YAY! I was a bit disappointed in the size tho AWWW. I am undaunted however and will plant again this fall. #WhySoSmall #garlic #gardening

Philomena finds that missing pieces can lead to expanded horizons.
Great book, highest recommendation. Digs deep and wide to uncover and name the harsh truths of the world we live in, creating a vocabulary for understanding the atrocities and a framework for how we can build a better world. It’s rage and revelations and reasons for hope all the way down.
If this essay appeals to you, it and many like it are in my book FIGHTING IN THE DARK, which is out today. Didn't mean to turn this into a plug but hey my book is out today, that don't happen every day. bsky.app/profile/juli...
"By pathologizing those we dislike, we give ourselves license to exile them." This is an excellent piece.
I was beaten to it by the amazingly generous @mollytempleton.com but yes! The blog I was nervous about yesterday is a reality today. She’s free. She’s long. She contains multiple cat photos. www.patreon.com/MicaiahJohns...
I think "AI" plumpers should be happy I'm focusing mostly on the nonsense it's doing to my field, rather than how it's very clearly designed as a tool for the capture of wealth and capital by a bunch of accelerationist weirdos enthusiastically huffing their own farts from the depth of their K-holes
Sci-fi authors Scalzi and Stross decry AI's dystopian impact on their craft
