Like. We have to start from, we all understand that Nazis are bad. But does the average indoctrinated American citizen understand that the US is too? From my experience - no. I’ve discussed this topic & argued OP’s point for years online & IRL. A common response is incredulousness or rejection.

Every now and again I think it's important to recommend this book. It drives home the understanding that we live in a connected eco-system and that evil doesn't simply manifest in a vacuum. Nazi Germany studied American fascism, particularly Jim Crow, very closely before committing the Holocaust.

The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law

teach boys that there is such a thing as a soul; that all of us are reflections of the universe experiencing itself. teach boys that the universe has experienced enough of its own wickedness; that the universe is waiting to experience kindness and selflessness in the diorama it has set.

Noir detective talk, but the femme fatale is a half-orc: I knew she was trouble when she crouched to enter my office. Those bulging arms and curved tusks disarmed my skepticism. I should've turned down the case when she picked me up by the collar and pinned me to the wall. But I couldn't say no.

My bad feelings around Covid is the realization that profits over lives was a thing and they truly feel no obligation at all to pretend to care about any of our survival- but I’ve talked with a LOT of healthcare professionals and THEY- are dealing with a level of trauma I’ve only seen-

Every time you use genAI, you're supporting an ongoing genocide in Congo. Earlier this year, the US and UAE (which is, with our help, also committing genocide in Sudan) created a paramilitary force to ensure the flow of cobalt and rare earth minerals extracted by child slaves to create GPUs.

Congo Plans Paramilitary Unit for Mines with US, UAE Funding

Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

"We used to have a proud life. As a pharmacist & a lawyer, we never imagined asking for aid. 3 years of no income in Gaza made providing food, clothes, & medicine for our 2 kids a daily battle. Our donations are dangerously low. Please help. 🙏 Vetted by Molly Shah ✅" tinyurl.com/4rycmjm5

So what's Amnesty International going to do when the UK starts killing people by forcing them off their medications, when the US really ramps concentration and death camps up, if they won't even stand up to a shitty rich author? As if we don't already know.

So yes, @hankgreen.bsky.social, LLMs are very useful, so long as you agree with their unspoken philosophical premise: all that matters is the product, and the process that produces the product is an inefficiency which should be optimized away.

People are talking about this or that latest thing that people with power are getting away with, and there's this ongoing thing. If only people knew about x. If only more people knew. And, yeah, sure, that might be helpful, but awareness on its own?
