All of the nation's history is in peril, and who knows what kind of historian may be coming to lead it under this administration

Arizona Right Watch@azrww.bsky.social · 15h agoAs we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I want to highlight a memorial not far from my home. 4 days after 9/11, a racist shot and killed Balbir Singh Sodhi, a husband, father of five, and beloved member of his local Sikh community. His murder was the first hate crime in response to the attacks.
this whole bullshit about 'Mamdani should skip the 9/11 memorial' is that he would also be lambasted widely if he did in fact skip it. literally they've set up a no-win scenario and its just straight islamophobia and racism
We also need to talk about how our memorials/etc are holding the wound open. 25 years later, we have not healed.

There are states who have removed protections for children working. It is absolutely outrageous. Kids should have childhoods, vacations, food, all of it.

A lot of people overlook these culture wars revolving around women’s issues, because, well, they’re women’s issues. But the right doesn’t. It’s how they regained such a massive cultural foothold.
“this person is bad so their work was always bad” is also a really dangerous view to take because it leads to - unconscious or not - a bias towards “but I do like this other person’s work, ergo they must be a good person” which, as we have seen over and over, is simply not true
lott@lott24m.bsky.social · 5d agoWhat happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good." That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.
Remember: They want you to fear Muslims, immigrants, and Black and brown people so you forget that a Muslim immigrant from Uganda and South Asia just hastened the safest New York City summer in history. They want you to believe MAGA propaganda over Mamdani’s proven example. Don’t fall for it. ❤️✊🏽

Even when I was a fan of the books as they were coming out I was struck by the poor quality of each subsequent doorstopper that came out. They are not special.
Package arrived addressed to the former owners of my house. This hasn't happened for literally years, fortunately we could contact them so they could come get their stuff. Turns out, the company they bought stuff from just switched to AI for their ordering system. SMDH

We engineered physical activity out of daily life at least fifty years ago, (if not more). We don’t put in sidewalks, we drive to ride bikes on trails. We drive to swim, to the gym. Even “traditional” things like yard work—big machines.
