"Despite zoning and land use changes to allow multiplexes and small apartment buildings in more places, the reality is that such designs are not yet living up to their architectural potential." Bridging the gap between houses and high-rises - Spacing Toronto

From time to time, I offer to do a little research on buildings in Chicago that you might be curious about. It has to be in Chicago and it can't be something that has its own Wikipedia page. If there's a building you've been curious about, let me know and I'll see what I can find.

There are something like 7,000,000 Muslim Americans. If they were all "prone to terrorism," they'd probably, you know, do some terrorism. White supremacists, on the other hand, ARE prone to terrorism - and responsible for the majority of politically motivated violence in the US.

A story of cause and effect: Last November, Ontario banned cities from using speed safety cameras to issue tickets. Reckless speeding immediately surged in Toronto, Ottawa, Guelph, and cities throughout the province. A 🧵 about my latest in Bloomberg (gift link)

What Happens When Speed Cameras Get Shut Off

In 2025, Ontario banned automated traffic enforcement. Now the number of drivers exceeding the speed limit has surged, according to traffic data.

I used to be totally against council term limits, but with Doug Ford blocking the alternatives such as ranked ballots and the city choosing its own wards, it’s becoming an appealing option. I’d keep it to three or four terms though, to ensure continuity and institutional knowledge.

Definitely share @graphicmatt.com's disappointment in his latest column on how only one councillor - Gord Perks - stepped aside for this fall's election and another is running for Mayor. We really need term limits to allow for new blood at City Hall. #TOpoli #TOelxn26 www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

It's everything that's terrible about condos that I wasn't expecting in a rental: tiny bar kitchens with no storage or prep space, interior bedrooms with glass doors, weird proportions to the living areas that make it impossible to lay out furniture or have anywhere to eat, weird columns, no storage

From Safe Parkside’s IG this morning. Correct to call out the local “progressive” councillor on this who did nothing for 20 years & actively opposed things like speed humps (for reasons). Betweeen him & Doug ford, not much difference on Parkside death strip.

Car crash in parksafeparkside A single vehicle crash on Parkside Drive this morning where a car somehow wrapped itself around a hydro pole causing a power outage. The driver and passenger appear to be okay. The power lines are hanging so low that trucks are clipping it as they drive by.
Police, fire and paramedics are on the scene now. A big thank you to Gord Perks 20 years of disregard and Doug Ford's absurd policies for making this possible!

Yet another Nazi playbook type move. Kill off any intellectual pursuits regarding art, music history and culture in favour of more profitable endeavours to enhance the new US Fatherland.
