Nope I was on here for an hour and it was too much for my brain. If you want to interact with me message me and I’ll send you my discord or some other means of communication and I’ll check back in every week or so. This format is just bad for me.

I just finished Orphan Black and I don't understand how I haven't heard more people talk about this show. Amazing performances, casually and comfortably queer, it wasn't perfect but it was one of the most interesting shows I've seen in a long time.
Melville is posting straight bangers today. Madness, sadness, and magic.
There is a wisdom that is woe; but there is a woe that is madness.
Guess I’m back on here to post and then run away again for a few weeks when the intra community discourse or unmanaged trauma blasts from strangers get to be too much.
You might be wrong about whales being fish, Ishmael, but when you’re right you’re right.
Damn me, but all things are queer, come to think of ’em.

Still kinda wanna see it but not as interested in retellings or adaptations that remove the gods when their interventions are critical to the myth cycle.
i haven't seen it, but based on moss' report, nolan stripped out all the rich greek religious context (the gods) while maintaining extensive discussion of "belief in" the gods and burdening odysseus with tremendous guilt—in other words, it's a basically christian film. the right should love it!

Today is a merit-multiplying day and I made sure to include Jimothy in my dedications. By this merit may he find enlightenment and lead us all to liberation.

Went away for a week and took a break from bsky and I've come back and it's still full of queer people shitting on each other. I'm not going to be in spaces that encourage this kind of intra-community hatred and discourse. It does bad things to my brain.
Ishmael, I have some advice. You don’t always need to share what comes to mind. Some things are better left for a journal. Think before you post.
I have sometimes pleased myself
Any time someone says something is inevitable—genAI, war, bigotry, whatever—all I hear is, "I want to be excused for doing bad things." Someone having a bad idea does not make it inevitable. Doing bad things is a CHOICE. Doing nothing is a CHOICE. That people don't understand this terrifies me.
Really confused by the “it’s bad to react to dysphoria” and “no dysphoria only euphoria” takes. You know some people experience dysphoria and transition to navigate away from that? Can someone explain why that’s bad?
Today is a good day to remember that authoritarianism is not inevitable, overthrowing fascists is possible, and good things can still happen. www.pbs.org/newshour/wor...

Saturday's Pride march came a little more than a year after Orbán's nationalist-populist government passed legislation and a constitutional amendment to outlaw the event, drawing criticism from human ...

My test group is reviewing the last few bits of the Hermetic Synaxis system I've been working on for some time now, my own approach to "doing Hermeticism" in our day and age for householders to engage in the mysticism and theurgy of the Way of Hermēs. Next? Formal documenting and publishing.
My mom played a lot of the Beatles, the Doors, and post-conversion Yusuf Islam (but for some reason never pre even though she was fine with the Beatles and the Doors).
what's the music your parents played all the time when you were a kid? for me, it's a dead heat between Neil Diamond and Linda Ronstadt
Your lifestyle revolves around things we built and maintain for you while you insist we do no work and contribute nothing. Are trans women women? Of course trans women are women. I know because as much as you insist otherwise, you can't help but treat us like women.
You make accusations of mental illness against any of us who are loud, outspoken, or opinionated. You constantly insinuate that we're too emotional, while descending into fits of rage when we question you. You'll jerk to porn of two of us going at it while calling us sinful for loving each other.
Of course trans women are women. You relentlessly sexualize us but act outraged if we dare to find ourselves sexy. You make choices about our healthcare without letting us speak. You constantly use the threat of rape and physical violence against us.
I don’t really have a take on the “dirtbag left” discourse but over time I’ve found this here to be true
If you take a step back, you’re going to find that all the “bold truth tellers” that you think you like are just people you vibe with because they’re as angry as you are, and that the constant, omnidirectional anger isn’t really doing you or them any good.
If I could say one sentence to cats and make them understand it, it would probably be "If you are going to puke, please do it on a hard surface."
I'm extremely proud of all the work, devotion, and community we've fostered over the past year with this, as much as we all struggled at times. It was worth it.
Check out what I and some friends have cooked up! ko-fi.com/s/25d307ccbd
beyond the ahistorical nature of the argument it's just untenable to think that the way to handle reactionary forces is to hide forever. the only way to win rights is to fight for them and the only place to fight for rights is in public.
The idea that trans women safely flew under the cultural radar until Visibility Discourse is so aggressively ahistorical. You cannot find a mainstream comedy made before 2010 that doesn't have at least one throwaway transphobic joke. In many cases, it's a running gag or a whole cruel plot point.
When I was a young goth I thought that Elizabeth Bathory was cool and peak vampire. As an adult I recognize that she was a goddamn noble murdering innocent peasant children and we know how I feel about that.
