Thrilled to share the latest pre-print from the lab – TLDR: we identified the (near) full ascending spinal projection neuron repertoire that gives rise to central itch/touch/pain/temperature sensation as well as sex specific neuron types in the mouse spinal cord. Thread below (1/n):

Deep Cellular and Spatial Profiling of the Mouse Spinal Cord Reveals Sex-Specific Neuron Types and the Ascending Projection Neuron Repertoire

The spinal cord gives rise to central somatosensation and orchestrates autonomic and motor control. How its cellular diversity achieves functions across sex, longitudinal axis and links the spinal cor...

🕔 This is the answer to "how do you have time" for advocacy. When I read NIH workforce data at 6 AM, I read as someone who can trace an OMB memo to the biological questions that won't get asked. The same mind that builds science can fight for it.

Unfortunately this is true, BNI is shutting down very suddenly and soon. We’re still sorting through the fallout, but many incredibly talented postdocs and technicians are taking a huge hit to their careers because of this. If you know of openings, even short term, I’d be happy to circulate them.

We’re marking the first anniversary of Canada Leads – a global recruitment effort to bring 100 top early‑career scientists to Canada. Meet three scientists who came to Canada to help shape the future of health innovation.

Anyone know engineering or physics labs/teams in Toronto that would welcome a high school student this summer? My daughter is a rising senior who loves mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, vehicle dynamics, related fields, and fast cars. We scrambled her plans by deciding to move from DC to 🇨🇦

I appreciate someone took the time to write this. I profoundly disagree with their view, but if I take the spirit of what they're saying as a good faith attempt to raise a mental issue, there's at least a conversation to be had. Let's have it 1/🧵 www.science.org/content/arti... #AcademicChatter
