The degree to which police departments have financial incentives to over-respond to situations where their presence is straight up not needed at ALL, because they can make a bunch of extra money for zero personal risk, is something that even the pro-cop brigade should be concerned about.

There is no law that says I need to be able to prove my citizenship to exist in this country. None. I am required to carry no proof. So when you say citizens have nothing to fear, what you transparently mean is that people who you or your goons have decided to consider citizens have nothing to fear.

Anyways. Would $500k in neighborhood projects made Minneapolis a better place to live than $20 million in MPD overtime? I guess opinions differ!

I’d like to gently suggest, from Minneapolis, that forming a protective ring of protesters around the Kennedy Center would have even more symbolic power if city residents worked to sustain the ring continuously over the coming weeks. Just something to consider if it comes to that point.

I think another thing I've learned recently is that truth can feel like an attack when you're not expecting to be wrong. I'm asking you to take other people's truths and not respond with "well I didn't know, so fuck off!" Instead, respond with curiosity, and ask to learn more if they are willing.
