So I have just saw Ponyo and one of my favourite things about the film is the relationship between Fujimoto and his wife, Gran Mamare. Despite their differing personalities (Fujimoto's anxiety and frustration, valid yet often extreme, and Gran Mamare's calm and wise nature) they go so well together.

Did I ever mention how much I love HMV stores? They’re like a true goldmine for physical media collectors and it feels like stepping into the Criterion closet each time you’re in them. It’s a travesty that these stores are dying out cos we need them now more than ever.
Here are a few other fictional characters that also deserve stars on the Walk of Fame
The Minions deserve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
🎈 Ghibli founder Suzuki Toshio's daughter posted a photo yesterday in celebration of his 78th birthday:
It kind of just goes to show that being disrespectful and an asshole towards others can be an Achilles heel and really ruin a big essay type video no matter how many valid points you make about the subject itself.
TBH, Emoji Movie Guy's Wish review might be his worst review yet. I don't like the movie but I've continuously stated that as long as you're not an asshole, your opinions on this movie is valid. Yeah, it was mid, but I did get that Star plushie from Amazon because he reminded me of a Pokemon.
I just finished watching that video and I agree it is insufferable… It reminds me of how in Emoji Movie Guy’s Wish video he constantly states that those who gave the new WDAS films positive reviews are the sole reason why Wish ended up the way it was.
And in this video, he doubles down and he even says people who like Zootopia 2 and who might end up liking Zootopia 3 and Frozen 3 have no taste. Alex sure making a lot of friends lately.
Go see Wildwood and Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom if you want more stop-motion films in theaters. Pass it on.

Usually I get pretty sick of these ‘dark somber versions of popular songs’ in trailers cos it often feels really forced and manipulative on the emotions, but for some reason I really did this new dark rendition of Avicii’s Wake Me Up. Still hyped! youtu.be/dtr5JL1zkiM?...

He’s not only easily one of my favourite animators of all time, but also from all the interviews I’ve seen he’s just the kind of guy with such a fun loving and optimistic personality that I think I would instantly be friends with if we met in real life.
I'm really glad Eric Goldberg got awarded a Disney Legend award cause his work at Walt Disney Animation Studios is just iconic and incredible stuff. I adore his animation so much.
How heartbreaking. I also associate her as not only Dot and Kairi, but also Suri from Dinosaur.
I'm shocked and devastated to hear that Hayden Panettiere passed away at 36. She did a lot of voice work and I'll probably remember her best for voicing Dot in A Bug's Life and characters in Kingdom Hearts. The fact she died so young is just terrible.
WHAT IS IT WITH ACTRESSES WHO WERE A PART OF OUR CHILDHOODS DYING SO YOUNG?! Obviously for me, Dot is the role i associate her the most with, even though most would go with Kairi from Kingdom Hearts as well. Yes I know she was also in both Hoodwinked 2 and Alpha and Omega which are both awful but-
Hayden Panettiere has sadly passed away at the age of 36.
I’ve seen the first few episodes and it’s a pretty cute anime so far. And yes, the third episode was certainly a highlight for me especially with how accurate they made the park look to the real Tokyo Disneyland just with hilarious off brand names instead.
Thank you to @ravenwitchshade.bsky.social for providing this incredible screenshot. Also, please read/watch Kaiju Girl Caramelise. It's one of the most delightful romances I've experienced in a while.
I watched the clip showed at D23 where they showed clips of her and the new cat character and I’ll be honest and say from what we’ve seen so far, they’re pretty fun and interesting.
I'm intrigued. She's less like Belos and more like Dolores Umbridge.
Well, he has made that inevitable response video; To go over it quickly, he’s mostly just responding to that screenshot from the video. He mostly says that he believes AniMat didn’t actually watch that video and just assumed that he didn’t care about the harassment the Fixed animators got, when he-

🧵 Ok, let’s go through a quick lightning round on my thoughts on most of the announcements; Bluey Movie trailer: Adorable! Nice to see the characters make a solid transition to cg and I’ll be interested in seeing what the plot’s about. Hexed: I still stand by I’m cautiously optimistic about it-
JIM HENSON wrote a letter to his Children to be opened after his death. It’s entirely beautiful.

If you’ve seen this show, prove it by quoting it
As someone who had a very stereotypical close minded view of girls when I was a kid, watching stuff like tangled and Coraline made me realise that girls could be more than just the damsel. I appreciate animation studios like Disney and Lakia for showing my dumbass that:)
I also will state that I actually liked Wish (I even saw it in cinemas with my father and we enjoyed it. I also got a Star plushie), though I certainly do agree that it does have problems such as the overeliance on Disney callbacks and the story, characters and songs certainly need a lot of work.
While I do get that this trope is overused with Disney protagonists nowadays, Asha was honestly the only one where it annoyed me. The others still at least have their own reasons for their quirkiness and have character outside of that one specific trait.
Tell me you hate autistic women without telling me you hate autistic woman 😤
I went to see Minions and Monsters again this time with my dad, and honestly, seeing the Hexed trailer up on the big screen really makes me sad that so many people are calling it Ai generated and even going as far as to say an actual Ai generated trailer of it when only the concept art was released-
I’m pretty sure non of you have heard of this movie, but for me at least it’s certainly this. If you need the literal definition of an unfunny one joke movie, this is most likely it.
Name the worst film of 2026 so far.
Absolutely. I’d even go as far as saying he’s my favourite non-Studio Ghibli anime film director and all of his films are just so special to me. (And yes, that does even include Scarlet. I actually didn’t think it was that bad when I saw it even though I do agree it’s his weakest so far.)
Mamoru Hosoda's films are such a wonderful treat. If you haven't seen one of them yet, I highly recommend you do so. They're a delight.
Oh good, it’s not just me. Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon

After watching @animatedantic.bsky.social’s video about the Disney DTV sequels, I now find it kind of hilarious that the entire reason Return of Jafar exists was because the Aladdin tv show creators loved the character of Iago so much that they wrote the pilot specifically to get him out-

Not to mention that some of these big name actors became celebrities because of the MCU. Ex: Robert Downey Jr. became famous for playing Tony Stark/Iron Man and it brought him back to popularity after going through a big slump.
Yeah. And people tend to stream the hell out of superhero movies. Which means some pretty HEFTY residuals! 👀
Exactly, a lot of big a-list actors love doing franchise or blockbuster films like superhero and animated films to usually get a break from their more high brow films. Yes, most often it’s because they want to do something for their kids, but they at least they most often still put 110% effort.
