Listening to The king in yellow… because that way I can avoid the deleterious effect of reading the play’s second act, or witnessing the yellow sign…

The RNLI are absolute heroes. I spent many holidays with my grandparents in Port Isaac and Cornwall has a special place in my ❤️ Mum and I used to collect for the RNLI. Only later in life I realised that a bespectacled kid with a gap-toothed grin grasping a plastic lifeboat box might aid donations.

I’ve worn a grubby RNLI cap for decades. I sound London, but I was born in Truro and I was a basically feral (Gen X) kid wandering the coast path with a dog until sunset for a lot of my early life. The lifeboats are in the fabric like trawlers and farms and pasties and fish and chips.

The publisher called, baffled that such an obscure book could have sold far more copies in Preston than in any store in London or Edinburgh or Manchester. One bloke - me - loved it so much and pushed it to a small market that we burned through 2000 ish copies in just one shop.

Consent sheets are extremely important, they let the table know where boundaries are. They make it visible what can and cannot be pushed at the table. If someone tries to join and refuses to fill one out or gets upset that it is a thing, instant red flag. Table safety tools are high value.

D&D peaked with the wiener-biting face-stabbing scorpadillo. And check out that snake. That's fucking peak snaking, I dare say. Heroes wore mawashi, kitty-ear head bands, and NOTHING ELSE. No scabbards no belts no backpacks. Grognards long for the golden age. An ago of wiener-biting & kitty ears
