NEW AUTHOR SCAM ALERT: do not correspond with emails claiming to be from the Everbridge Academy, which advocates for the visually impaired, inquiring about your audiobooks. I got one from a gmail address. The real Everbridge Academy has a warning on their website

A screenshot of a website. At the top is a banner that says scam alert: beware of scammers and impersonators.

Not me literally writing up a list of demands to all my reps, new and old. No, we're not going to shut up about all the changes that need to be made, and we'll accept no excuses. Keep holding their feet to the fire. Passivity will not create change.

Already re-skeeted this but it bears repeating until it finally freaking sinks in. What audiobook performers do is skill and talent both—it's artistry—and handing words over to the soulless plagiarism theftware machine is—and should always be—a non-starter.

Voice actors are artists too. Like translators, like editors, like cover artists, they deserve authors' solidarity in the face of genAI fuckery. We are all in this together.

AI is an attempt to hobble, if not outright destroy, the liberatory possibilities of information technologies—the ability to use voice, image, video, and text as authentic witness and testimony, in a globally accessible human archive that transcends distance and time, to easily contradict power

“As it stands, if people don’t like what they hear, they can simply turn something off; the system outlined by Microsoft describes an environment where people can instead adjust someone else’s speech to their personal taste.”

For those who love Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, and D&D: The Inquisition Trilogy is a modern fantasy m/m romance series following the same group of friends as they fight to topple a gov't agency committing genocide. 🌈📚🪐💙📚🌎♿📚🌈📚♠️🏳️‍⚧️📚 AuthorCaseyWolfe.carrd.co

Three books sitting on a dark brown wooden table.

A Mage's Power book cover: POV looking up at a starry night sky, trees of a forest lining the bottom. A runic magic circle sits in the center of the cover, behind the title, as well as wispy pinkish smoke.

A Vampire's Redemption cover: lake surrounded by trees, a snow-capped mountain behind it. At the top, a wolf's face, focused in on the eyes, cast in blue and purple light. A full moon peaking through clouds sits in the top right corner. Wispy purple-pink smoke lays behind the title.

An Elf's Fate cover: cliffside at night, overlooking the ocean. A lantern is lit sitting on a rock. In the distance a coastline with a forest. A full moon in a star-filled sky with purple-tinged clouds. Wispy burnt orange smoke accents the title, bleeding into the clouds.

There are many reasons I’m excited about this, but here’s a weird one. In the U.S., everything is pretty bad right now, and some part of me would expect this to be reflected in our TTRPGs, but by and large it is not. iHunt is an amazing exception to this, and thank goodness for it.

This. Also, vital to remember that online gambling isn't just "a casino but online." These companies have entire teams of psychologists engineering methods to get people hooked, in ways drug dealers couldn't dream of. A genuinely evil business designed to profit by destroying lives.

Online gambling is a fucking scourge. It's really telling when you see Republicans complain about how the opioid epidemic is decimating small towns or whatever but stay silent about gambling. They don't care about the upheaval and death; they're just mad heroin dealers aren't giving them kickbacks

I think I was quite nice about the whole thing. /s Added my position on GenAI to my website, which was long overdue and something I sadly overlooked in doing. TLDR: Fuck AI. But you knew that already. 😊

Statement on AI

I saw a post on Bsky today (well, technically I’m on Northsky now) asking that authors put AI statements on their websites. Now, here I am, someone that posts my adamant hatred of GenAI all o…

Open anti-trans hatred among the Democratic Party has dramatically escalated this campaign season. Too many queer and trans gentry are excusing it. @davidforbes.bsky.social goes in-depth on how we got here, and why trans communities must reject compromise and fight for our survival and liberation.

Queer histories are often preserved in places built by and for communities themselves. Writer and artist Brooke Palmieri reflects on the people who save these traces and why preserving what might disappear matters. 📚 Read the essay in Vanishing Culture: archive.org/details/vani... 🧵
