It's interesting how a lot of writers fetishize the "what is a ttrpg?" section - you would assume this means the game is written for a first time player. And yet many of these games are fundamentally nonfunctional unless you have prior knowledge to fill in their gaps.

(Self) Regulators, mount up!@bankuei.bsky.social · 2h ago

Over years in the RPG scene I've argued for more complete rules sets, it's never been about "a rule for everything" or an experience where you don't invest any work or labor. It's just been "Can a new person figure out how to play this game w/o importing game knowledge from elsewhere?"

Randomly remembered Tunnet, a game about digging tunnels and installing network infrastructure between underground bunkers. And also a game where I threw a rock through a house's window so I could hook up the terminal inside to my network without having to buy the house.

Screenshot of Tunnet showing a bunker with shattered windows, a network cable threading through one of the windows to a relay inside, and then another cable connecting the relay to a terminal on the far side of the bunker. The player character is also saying "Housing market is really getting out of control..."

has anyone designed an archipelago system but for steam nextfest, somehow. like one person plays LttP and they get one item for every demo someone else on the archipelago finishes or something weird like that

we're the only group of people I can think of for whom "being annoying" is treated as sufficient justification for wholesale social de-personing. we're told in large volume that we are both monstrous and inherently sexual, but owning our monstrousness or sexuality is verboten

trans people are expected to straddle so many contradictory positions. we must de-politicize, while acquiescing to our expediance as a political object for others. we aren't w large enough block to cater to, but our support is apparently the lynchpin upon which the Democratic party depends.
