I didn’t set out to create a little ET shrine in my house, but I’m not mad at it.

How you gonna try to fuck up the moon the witches are gonna get you bro
I know expensive groceries is old news but since when does a single lemon cost a whole goddamn dollar?
I got to see these little fellas in the flesh (so to speak) at the miniatures museum in Tucson earlier this summer and got quite choked up. Pure movie magic, that he was able to create such enduring adventure and excitement out of static figurines.
Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts are amazing even now. He animated the sequence by himself for more than four months -- without computers or even an easy way to check his work. We're looking into how he did it: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/how-ray-ha...
Correct. We also all want to fuck John Goodman. James Gandolfini was a smoke show. Every woman who's watched The Holiday would pick Jack Black over Jude Law.
Guys will listen to male influencer bullshit about needing to have a six pack and manipulate everyone and meanwhile women will go “you know who is the sexiest fucking guy I’ve ever seen?” and post this
The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.
The joys of living in Arizona. Get a load of Rambo here, packing heat on his way into the grocery store in case the coffee creamer gives him any lip.

I had the craziest night at book club. 100+ people at @changinghands.bsky.social to talk Whistler by Ann Patchett of @parnassusbooks.bsky.social. Someone dropped a read on the ending so mindblowing the room erupted & we stayed an extra half hour to unpack it. Don’t let them tell you books are dead.
We can verify the daily physical status of a specific Seattle raccoon but apparently we're completely unable to determine whether a United States Senator is alive or dead.

Imagine living such a poor life that this is your eulogy, delivered by the worst person in the world who can't even pretend not to suck for 30 seconds. No hell could be worse, rest in piss, etc.
Trump takes issue with the Lindsey Graham eulogy he's reading: "Virtually everyone liked Lindsey. Well, not everybody. But it sounds good. I have to be honest. I have to veer from this for a second."
it turns out the reddit atheist was an important predator in the ecosystem
Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...
"Fleishman Is in Trouble." "Beau Is Afraid." "Margo's Got Money Troubles." All of these people need to get their shit together. It's honestly embarrassing.
Disclosure Day is on PVOD, and I am happy to direct people toward a fascinating, weird, stunningly made, wildly personal and idiosyncratic movie disguised as a would-be summer blockbuster. Haters, take it to another thread. This one's mine. And yes, I'm biased, so thank goodness I'm also right.
Found a treasure I’ve been hunting for. Very excited to hate John Landis even more than I thought was possible.
They're going to try to bring McConnell back by putting him in Pet Semetary.
Literacy’s not going to die on my watch. Had a lovely time speaking on @kjzz.org about the ways in which I’m fighting back the brain rot and helping myself and others read more.
Fight back against 'the end of reading' with these tips to focus and finish more books
The Atlantic’s latest bombshell headline is a stark one: It says “The End of Reading is Here.” The theory is we could be entering entering a postliterate society.
