It's my birthday today so you are forced to watch me yap about my game Dungeon Tourists for the next 30 seconds!!!

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

Okay guys. You heard the sentence "the revolution will not be televised" before, of course. But perhaps take a moment to work out just what will be televised *instead* and what that'll fucking look like. Yeah, this is a post about what you were told is happening in France.

French police reportedly going full Gestapo today and shooting grenades at the public to prevent *legal, scheduled* protests from starting at all. I don't know, a strategy of escalation has been known not to work amazing with the French. Eventually things come to a head.

A tough pill for us tech people to reckon with before long, I suspect: AIs still being shit at most things while becoming okay at tech suggests that maybe our comparatively comfortable wages owed more to skillset scarcity than actual difficulty.

A thought occurred to me. Companies like Microsoft, Apple and Valve hire from the same broad pool of engineers. Yet there is *huge* variance in the quality of their respective products. I'm thinking there's much more than individual coding skills that goes into making good software.

This is true. Fable 5 and now Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 reliably write code that’s as good as if not better than I would have written myself. And they do it 100 times faster. They’re not making “slop” or tech debt. They’re creating high quality tested, maintainable software that works.

When I was a very new pro, I did a signing with Theodore Sturgeon and a couple of other people. I was complaining to him about the trouble I was having with a scene. He looked at me and said, in his resonant tenor, "I give you permission to do it wrong." Most liberating thing I ever heard.

I once heard someone talking about up and coming stand-up comics, “everyone needs a place to be lame“ I’ve always thought that was very insightful.

that thing where people are speaking another language and will drop back into English for a proper noun, but it’s two therians barking but reverting to english to say a distinctly human concept (sad whines) (growls) rrrhhhrhh “taxi to the airport” refff wrrr (ears back) “flight is delayed” grrrrrr

Having grown up in Wales, I can testify that if you are actually worried about your culture and history being under threat, the thing to do is write poetry and songs, perform plays, tell stories and organise festivals, not just sit around whining.
