Drone dude. Sometimes athlete. Sometimes nerd.

Jonathan Chait I find habitually irritating in the Atlantic in part because he clearly writes from the point of view of the Dem establishment and this opens up a bunch of blind spots that inhibit his ability to read the moment and the electorate accurately. He’s good some valid points but <sigh>.

Seconded. It’s wrong on principle, it’s unamerican—we rejected religious tests for office and dual loyalty smears with JFK, Jewish Americans, more—and every minority (especially but not exclusively religious) should recognize it as yet another assertion that only white Christians are real Americans.

i really have no patience whatsoever for people who are scared of muslims having elected office

if establishment candidates want to start winning primaries again all you have to do is say that rich people have too much money and that youll prosecute trump admin staffers and republicans that have broken the law

The craziest fallout of the Cyclospora situation for me personally is I used to work in a microbiology lab as the one (1) parasitologist. That lab didn't even have the right gear for many of the tests they wanted me to do. Couldn't train me to run the tests right, bc nobody in the lab knew how!

Epstein survivor Dani Bensky: "There's always a glimmer of hope that somebody will do the right thing. I hoped that it would be John Cornyn, because he has been such a great advocate for putting sex trafficking rings away. To see that this is how he's going to end his legacy is really depressing."

How’s this for speech: ABOLISH ICE. Come at me. Every American has a right to participate in this democracy. We are a self governing people. If the people through their elected representatives decide to abolish ICE then abolished it shall be.

“In recent months, ICE has deployed a round-the-clock digital dragnet to scour the public internet—from Facebook to Instagram to X—for speech that could endanger the agency’s mission.” Speech. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

First question you should ask when right-wing pundits, politicians, or groups propose a "pronatalist" policy: "Would they argue for this policy even if it didn't result in higher birth rates?" If the answer is yes, it's not about babies. It's about a social order & power. Babies are today's pitch.

This is a key insight. The point of much conservative ideology is that there should be a hierarchy of the deserving vs the undeserving (I’ll give you one guess how money and race fit into this) and little to no government to get in the way. To them that is the peaceable and righteous way of things.

MAGA is raging at DHS Sec Markwayne Mullin for discussing immigration reform. But the real reason MAGA is so furious is he admitted immigration can be managed in a way that benefits our country. This is absolutely lethal to white nationalist ideology. New from me: newrepublic.com/article/2138...

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.
