Lifelong Indianan and proud Boilermaker (BSME), avid cyclist in Naptown, "radical leftist" (aka progressive), Bengals diehard. I dig rock music, records, guitars, and Kentucky bourbon. Still trying to find my place in the "post-Covid" world.

I really want to know the language of where Valets are allowed to park cars, because directly on the Cultural Trail doesn’t seem like a permitted place.

Valet parked cars directly on the Cultural Trail on Washington street in Downtown Indy.

Here’s what this portion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and this historical marker for the late pioneering African-American attorney Harriette Bailey Conn look like when there are no idiots parking on the trail meant for walking, cycling and definitely not cars. indyculturaltrail.org/map/

Historical marker in Indianapolis. It reads:

Harriette Bailey Conn
1922-1981

Trailblazing African American lawyer and Indianapolis native Harriette Bailey Conn graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1937. After graduating from Indiana University’s Law School in 1955, she became a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Indiana. She later served as an Indianapolis Assistant City Attorney and advised the city’s Human Rights Commission.

Elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1966 and 1968, Conn championed personal and civil liberties and housing reform. She also worked for criminal justice reform and in 1970 she became the first African American and first woman appointed Public Defender of Indiana. The public defender’s office expanded dramatically under her resolute leadership.

Erected 2021 by Indiana Historical Bureau, the University of Indianapolis, Indiana Humanities, Dr. Laura Merrifield Wilson, and Karlee Taylor.

Had to check out the Cultural Trail at Capitol - it's been torn up but navigable, I ride it all the time. Suddenly, now a dead end with no detour signs, which dumps a main trail in the city into the middle of a major intersection with no explanation of what to do. And somebody already died for it.

There are now 10 toilets in Space International Space Station: 4 Crew Dragon Docked at ISS: 1 Soyuz Docked at ISS: 1 Tiangong Space Station: 2 Shenzhou Docked at TSS: 1 Artemis II on way around Moon: 1 This will be the first time a toilet has left low earth orbit!

White River Trail crossing at 16th Street - tiny, unprotected island amidst 4 full-speed lanes, trail not even marked in the westbound lanes. If there's a worse trail crossing in the city, I'd love to hear about it. @indydpw.bsky.social, any plans here before someone gets killed or maimed?
