“As Aydin jumps a scooter over ramps set up in the middle of the road, children around him are drawing with chalk, blowing bubbles and kicking a football in a spot where cars are usually driving through.” Good job Leeds. More children should have the chance to play in their neighbourhood like this.

Leeds: The city closing down streets so children can play

In Leeds, streets are being temporarily closed to traffic so kids have more space to safely play - an initiative proving beneficial to both children and adults.

NFU has been calling for tax breaks for farmers to build their own rainwater storage - does anyone know what form this will take? I don't have a very good impression of farmers when it comes to this stuff at all (friend works for DEFRA) and imo should be a national project anyway

British farmers are facing a "completely brutal" year, with analysis suggesting the 2026 harvest could be the worst on record due to extreme summer weather: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Yet again, the case for economic growth to mitigate the effects of climate change - official government policy - found lacking because they're doing nothing. The Farmers Union is begging for tax breaks for farmers to build rainwater storage and we should be way ahead of this, it's happening now

We are in the third drought in five years. We have the National Trust and NFU - those radical types - sounding the alarm on unprecedented temperatures. But so little from any single figure in politics talking about the climate crisis.
