We can make a society that exists for the care and thriving and enjoyment of the actual people rather than for the enrichment of parasitical greed freaks and the comfort of creepy-minded religious bigots. All that's needed is for more people to stop fearing good things and start fighting for them.

nobody in British politics seems to want to say it but the single biggest driver of their inability to keep a prime minister for any length of time is that Brexit was stupid and ruinous and made everyone’s lives worse

We have just launched a parliamentary petition calling for mandatory AI transparency in the public sector. If AI is going to be used in the delivery of public services, it must be AI that is worthy of our trust. Sign: petitions.parliament.nz/7bfe1c60-b99... Read more: www.trustworthyai.nz

Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.

The AUDACITY of a white dude with a heavy non-NZ accent telling me to "go back to your country" when I call him out for riding his motorcycle in the cycleway. He was previously mounting footpaths to circumvent red lights, while also running other red lights before turning into the cycleway

A motorcyclist on a blue motorcycle registration MZZ459 going through a red light. Motorcyclist clearly using a cycleway with a hand signal that I should get out of "his lane"Angry-looking motorcyclist, angry at being called out on his law-breaking ways

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

Big thanks to the DUP, Reform, Tories etc for stirring this up all day. Thugs are now attacking people's homes in Belfast, wrecking hostels, checking cars at roadblocks for 'immigrants', burning vehicles and generally scaring the shit out of people. Hope you're all proud of yourselves. #Belfast

The nominal strategic purpose of the U.S. Navy is to ensure global freedom of navigation to guarantee stable global trade. It has not only not done that, the United States instigated the conflict which undid it. This is known in foreign policy analysis as a “whoopsie doodles.”

Genuine question: is there any way to understand the "pause" on Operation Freedom besides an unambiguous defeat for the US navy? I am actually shocked at how badly the US is losing this war.

I’ve been thinking about this guy almost daily for ten fucking years. essentially my entire 30’s. when he finally croaks I imagine I’ll let out a sigh so deep it realigns my fucking spine

That’s funny, because Nate Swanson, who used to be the point guy on Iran at the NSC but got fired because of Laura Loomer, warned of this in an article written four days before the war started. It was called “Why Iran Will Escalate.”

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

"Is there a technology the left is excited about?" Let's see, off the top of my head: - libraries - solar power - community-owned, community-run [noun], for example • power grids • communications networks - e-bikes - voting by mail - vaccinations - affordable health care Notice any patterns?
