Cycling UK members @cyclinguk.bsky.social will have got their mag today! Great to see @scarlettmcnally.bsky.social Prof Scarlett McNally, the cycling surgeon from Eastbourne is featured on page 4! She refers to the Bristol Declaration on healthy transport. See it at www.fph.org.uk/news/bristol...

This is a magazine cutting from Page 4 of the latest Oct/Nov 2026 Cycle magazine. There is a photo of Scarlett with her bike ouside an Out Patients Department. The article is in the "On my bike" series and has questions and answers about her cycling preferences.

Hang on! The police are seizing illegal electric motorbikes that cannot legally be ridden on British roads and are then selling them to people to illegally use on British roads. Have I entered a parallel universe? The sale of these should be banned completely and certainly the resale

This is framed as a feel-good story, but it should scare the wits out of anybody on the road. Tesla's deceptive marketing is convincing seniors that the cars drive themselves. In reality, a human must always be ready to intervene. If someone lacks the ability to do that, they shouldn't be driving!

Forget rideshare. How seniors are using Teslas for transportation

As Waymo and Tesla robotaxi services promise more rides for more cities, seniors are taking matters into their own hands and self-driving Teslas.

Great article from Scarlett here. A short, clear call-to-action that you'll want to share with your local decision-makers

Woo-hoo! My new @bmj.com article On how to fix health. By enabling physical activity eg active travel + public transport. Discusses #motonormativity, incentives, culture www.bmj.com/content/394/... x @livingstreets.bsky.social @ianwalker.bsky.social @walkwheelcyclet.bsky.social @fsem-uk.bsky.social

I cycled to work the longer way today. At 5.5 miles, that's further than most UK car trips - yet it took me just 22 minutes We urgently need to unblock and enable the millions of short active trips that are being blocked every day because of our collective car dependency. Our health depends on it

Negative feelings, from some residents, towards legal cyclists but based on illegal 'cycles' and e-scooters. *The only local legal e-scooters on the highway are in Brighton rental scheme *Across other councils clampdowns on souped up e-bikes, using throttles & without pedals

“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas and city center in 2021.”

Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death

The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.
