But this is a very, very, very trenchant piece of commentary that captures a lot of how I increasingly understand the disjunction between the commentary environment and on-the-ground politics.
Media is like “Peggy Flanagan, a PROGRESSIVE, wins in MN.” (Fits the narrative of Dem divide they’ve created for this cycle.) I’m like, “Peggy Flanagan, an Ojibwe woman, the first Native woman to wins in MN.” If Flanagan wins the general, she’ll be the first Native woman to serve as a senator.
Voters aren’t always gullible. Congrats David Crowley! NYT: “A super PAC tied to Republicans spent millions on outside ads boosting the campaign of Francesca Hong, a democratic socialist state representative and chef whom both parties saw as easier for the G.O.P. nominee to defeat in November.”

Once again, Donald Trump is not a wizard. He can't just manifest things into existence by saying them or with a tweet. There is no "right" to do this in US law, nor is there any mechanism that would enable any of this to happen. Both people in this conversation are deranged.

Be a poll worker, if you possibly can. It's a great way to serve your community, help the election run smoothly and fairly -- and learn a lot about how secure and cross-checked the systems are. (Hours, pay, etc. vary by state and city/town/county.)

Dr Katie Twomey@k2mey.eurosky.social · 6d agoArguing that LLMs are anything more than a load of numbers going into a complicated mathematical function and spitting some more numbers out. Yes they simulate. But they simulate *language*. They do not simulate the cognitive processes underlying communication.
I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.

In a unanimous decision, the D.C. Circuit said the executive branch does not have the authority to dramatically redesign and reconstruct the White House to suit the preferences of a single president while the legal challenge is still underway.
A win! A federal appeals court has blocked the Trump administration from moving forward with its proposed White House ballroom, ruling that construction cannot begin without congressional authorization.
