While Americans struggle to afford groceries, Trump is spending taxpayer money on the worst HGTV show ever.
"There is a revolution happening right now. It's not a woke one, it's an authoritarian one."
Normally I just appreciatively read @jamellebouie.net 's columns-sharable video content just isn't my bag. But this is a very, very, very trenchant piece of commentary that captures a lot of how I increasingly understand the disjunction between the commentary environment and on-the-ground politics.
Media is like “Peggy Flanagan, a PROGRESSIVE, wins in MN.” (Fits the narrative of Dem divide they’ve created for this cycle.) I’m like, “Peggy Flanagan, an Ojibwe woman, the first Native woman to wins in MN.” If Flanagan wins the general, she’ll be the first Native woman to serve as a senator.
Voters aren’t always gullible. Congrats David Crowley! NYT: “A super PAC tied to Republicans spent millions on outside ads boosting the campaign of Francesca Hong, a democratic socialist state representative and chef whom both parties saw as easier for the G.O.P. nominee to defeat in November.”
BACK TO SCHOOL: “$4,000 more per child this year” #TrumpTax
Once again, Donald Trump is not a wizard. He can't just manifest things into existence by saying them or with a tweet. There is no "right" to do this in US law, nor is there any mechanism that would enable any of this to happen. Both people in this conversation are deranged.
🚨🚨🚨 WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: You have the right to declare a national security emergency for elections. If you do this in the next month, we will get photo ID, proof of citizenship, and a limit to mail ballots TRUMP: Let me just say stranger things have happened. I'll leave it at that
Be a poll worker, if you possibly can. It's a great way to serve your community, help the election run smoothly and fairly -- and learn a lot about how secure and cross-checked the systems are. (Hours, pay, etc. vary by state and city/town/county.)
Today is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day and we're asking you to consider helping out with your community's elections! Learn how you can become a poll worker at vote.sos.ri.gov/Elections/Po.... #TrustedInfo2026 #Vote
When it comes to your children’s health, listen to doctors. Not a president who once told Americans to inject bleach. The American Academy of Pediatrics’ immunization recommendations have not changed.
exactly 💯 on LLMs: they simulate the output we call language, not the cognitive capacity we call language!
Arguing that LLMs are anything more than a load of numbers going into a complicated mathematical function and spitting some more numbers out. Yes they simulate. But they simulate *language*. They do not simulate the cognitive processes underlying communication.
I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.
Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."

We need your help getting a fake TikTok page taken down. This page is directing people to private chat apps and asking people for money on Heather’s behalf. This is not her, and she will never do that. If you're on TikTok, could you please report the handle "@HeatherCoxRichardson" for impersonation.
A note on Royce White, the former NBA player who says he's entering the WNBA draft, a judge ruled he abused his wife and teenage son in an April court order and determined he could not have contact with either of them for 50 years. Great way to "protect women's sports" transphobes.
Jackson is dead on.
This is an improvement over the Gideon campaign which was reluctant to call out Susan Collins as a liar and con artist. If you don't tell voters the truth about this a) you forego a compelling, persuasive argument against Collins and b) you lose a chance to connect candidly with folks. #MEpolitics
Trump appears more personally angry about a court decision impacting his ability to build a ballroom than anything that's happened with Iran in months.
Trump on a rant:
In a unanimous decision, the D.C. Circuit said the executive branch does not have the authority to dramatically redesign and reconstruct the White House to suit the preferences of a single president while the legal challenge is still underway.
A win! A federal appeals court has blocked the Trump administration from moving forward with its proposed White House ballroom, ruling that construction cannot begin without congressional authorization.
Hasan Piker is an antisemite. Hasan Piker is a misogynist. As this tweet of his shows, Hasan Piker is also an idiot, especially when it comes to knowing anything about campaigning to win in a swing state in November. Piker's a clown & Democrats who have palled around w/ him need to stop doing that.
Brett Kavanaugh, June 30: Don't worry Mr. President; if you want to muck up birthright citizenship, you can just have Congress do it through a statute (never mind that five of my colleagues disagree). President Trump, August 6: Here's another executive order mucking up birthright citizenship.
Stephen Miller: "The president is using his authority as commander as chief to sign an executive order using the new ruling the Supreme Court issued to expand the definition of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship. That includes, for example, alien enemies ... "
Under the common law, alien enemies living peacefully in England before the commencement of war were subject to the Realm’s jurisdiction and not estranged from the law’s protection. This was articulated before the eighteenth century. People will try to mislead and miseducate. Do not let them.
