Why adulthood super sucks: In a single week... - you find a massive yellow jacket nest in the back yard (after it stings a member of your household more than once) that you have to take care of safely - a pretty big water stain on your basement ceiling indicating an exterior house leak - ...
15yo: Mom, can I go play football at [location]? Me: Probs, who will be there? 15yo: [girl who plays in a top league at his club] and uh, it's kinda Sunday beer league with the uncs. Me: Your friends play with the uncs at Sunday pickup? 15yo: Apparently they are out there every Sunday!

I remember a few years ago everything felt impossible- small stuff, big stuff. None of it was hard. It was just impossible. Laundry for me is this person's dishes. I remember when I gave myself permission to not freak out (or freeze up) when I had to wash loads of laundry twice.
This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.
MOSS Studio is a new drawing toy from @brainfruit.bsky.social, coming this fall to iPhone and iPad. it’s a magical little app that lets you draw, paint, record video, create chaotic brushes, edit photos, doodle, make music, and very generally “find the vibes” sign up for the waitlist: moss.town
OH. 😅 here's my nerdy one. In middle school (1993ish) we had to take computer class but it was like DOS times? Anyways- Mr Rains told us to go find where he hid all of the games by navigating through the directories- if we found them, we could play them. I... uh... mapped THE WHOLE SYSTEM.
- I passed through Grade III of my Checchetti ballet exams but prepped 4-6 (just didn't take them). - When I was 18, I was a top 3 finalist in a state beauty pageant. 🫣 and modeled at wedding dress shows. - I was in that Apple keynote. - There's probs something real nerdy but i'm drawing a blank.
- I won the big nj ACSI bible contest event 2 years in a row. - The theme books for those years were Acts and Judges, and I *destroyed* the written test. - I was unbeatable in the Sword Drills. I won't explain those. - I got a plastic gold medal on a rainbow ribbon. Two consecutive years. Won 2x
let's talk 868-BACK, a great game! First let's do some basics, with the demo. Which is pretty much a playthrough of one dungeon, but they're not called "dungeons." I'll be getting into spoilers so mute #868BACKHEIST if you don't want to see this. store.steampowered.com/app/3304110/...

If you look closely, you can spot the exact moment when I gave up hope and purchased 868-BACK to DEFEAT TIME ITSELF.
I am an old millennial and my one living parent is 75- and like a lot of people in the US, I do not live anywhere near this parent. They are in California, I am in Michigan. They recently had emergency surgery for acute appendicitis and this is my frustration post about having aging parents:
Fans of our games may be interested to know that our long-term collaborator Richard Hogg has a new website up at www.h099.com He's done deep-dives into the art direction process for Flock & I Am Dead, as well as tons of assorted visual treats from his past work which should delight true Hoggheads

I am missing my kids first day of school again this year because of games. And their whole first week of school. I missed every labor day holiday for years because of games. I stop work everyday by 2:45 during the school year so I can go pick them up from school. I have to work in the evenings.
For @mothership.blog, I talked to over a dozen caretakers about the reality of being a caretaker while working in games. The short of it? It's *very* difficult. Here's a glimpse of the current experience, its consequences, and coveted standardized practices: www.mothership.blog/the-games-in...
Not the stat you want- but my state has the worst air quality on planet earth today... with my town being one of the worst.
the World Cup final will be between two teams that Cape Verde played even through 90 minutes
Anyways. It's too hot and I woke up kinda annoyed at just about anyone who looks sideways at me today. I simply do not have time for people who exist like this- who are so lacking in apparent common sense, ethics, decency, etc etc etc. I am too old to still have to read about this person.
🫠 At its foundation it's theft. At its foundation it destroys your community At its foundation it wants to sell you things you already own. At its foundation it is anti-labor At its foundation it is about as creative as effing autofill It can only recycle what it stole.

You want to know what never happened in Michigan until like 5-7 years ago? Wildfire smoke from Canada (and the west). Now it is Every. Single. Summer. These places burn and smoke flows in from an absurd distance. The smoke is at the bridge and should be in GR by this afternoon.
My sister is corporate bankruptcy lawyer/expert. 💀 My brothers are a retail store manager, a MBA who studied lean management and works in manufacturing, a landscape designer specializing in aquascapes, and a regional union rep for the california teachers union. I'd be SO bad at all of these.
Thought experiment- if you were suddenly appointed to do your sibling’s job, how badly would you suck at it?
📣 Big news! We'll be at @indiearenabooth.de at Gamescom this year, WITH A BRAND NEW 👻 USUAL JUNE DEMO! Will we see you there?
I was 16 and driving in the mid-late 90s- pre-internet. I had 2 maps in my car- a big foldable Michigan one that I couldn't fold up properly and the fancy book version with useful city maps. My brother used to take me out and would tell me to drive to a city 20-30 min away by back roads only.
this is why you come to Bluesky. to listen to people in their 40s speak wistfully of online map printouts like ancient sea captains speak of guiding themselves by the moon and stars.
On that last RT- Please read it. This is not just to you, a games reviewer but you, a person who plays games and talks about them. I spend an incredible amount of time working on ways to combat the things Michael talks at a marketing mass communication strategy level.
The recent world-historical Belgium US match brought me back to this quite lovely piece by Lukaku (from 2018) in the @playerstribune.bsky.social www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/rom...

The thing that is really pissing me off about the USMNT- balogun-red card controversy is that at the end of the day, our men's team, who are so talented and a joy to watch, will carry consequences and accusations of cheating and not the shits at the top who made this mess.
The ref should simply let them play until Cape Verde wins
