Amusement park enthousiast, web developer, low vision but high spirits.

Just had my first small group workout session. Mostly strength training, with a little bit of cardio. For too long, I valued my brain more than the rest of my body, fueled by uncertainty of what I'm able to do given my disability, and fear of being judged. This feels like the start of a good change

I'm seeing both Walbi Holland and Hellendoorn are having trouble with their Huss Enterprise rides. i really hope these stick around, cause I love theese machines! I think the first time I experienced an inversion was in one of these. www.looopings.nl/weblog/33601...

Dear fellow men. When you go into a train bathroom to pee SIT THE FUCK DOWN`! Your aim probably isn't as good as you think, even outside a moving vehicle, and i don't wanna do my business in the middle of a puddle.

It's 1AM, and I can't sleep because after starting to read a book on free will, I'm going down a philosophical rabbithole about what free will even is. And honestly, i'm coming to the conclusion that free will is a shared concept/illusion, just likemoney and time, (especially lunchtime).

The longer I work as a programmer, the more I feel like enforced argument labels are a fantastic feature of Swift (originally from Objective-C), and I feel like more programming languages should steal this concept. It makes it so much cleaner what arguments mean when you pass them!

I want a version of the 🍟 emoji, where they're in a puntzak (pointed paper bag), as all proper fries should be served.

Walibi Belgium is getting an RMC coaster, and I CANNOT CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT! i loved werewolf as a kid, and even though it's gotten rough, it's still sad to lose a rare Vekoma woodie. But so happy for what we're getting in return! www.looopings.nl/weblog/32880...

I think Ticket to Ride needs a "hulk" card that lets you smash your oponents trains and claim their track, but only if you're truly annoyed by their move.

When Einstein developed general relativity the closest thing to a practical application that could even be imagined at the time was a slightly more precise description of where to look for the planet Mercury in the sky, and yet now we’d all be literally lost without it. Anyway: fund basic research.

GPS satellites move at 1/100000 the speed of light, causing their clocks to tick slower by 7 microseconds per day, and orbit at a height that makes their clocks tick faster by 45 microseconds per day. Two relativistic effects, both at the 1 part in 10 billion level, both essential for GPS accuracy 🧪

the gap between "i built this with AI in 20 min" and "it took 3 hours to debug the regex" is the entire vibe coding experience shipping fast is great. understanding what you shipped? that's the part that keeps your app alive at 3am

passkey is imho one of the most important security developments that touch consumers and also one of the worst consumer rollouts i ever witnessed because every company involved treats everything like an enterprise customer solution

I am a highly educated and technically proficient person, but passkeys are the first new ubiquitous web technology that regularly make me think I am just a stupid big baby man

On HN, there's a discussion going on about the etiquette of bike bells, and the different cultural norms. Someone said this, and I couldn't agree more

Quote from an earlier comment:

"Like Imagine if you were at the grocery store, blocking the isle, and someone lightly chimed a bell at you"

Reply from user wffurr:
"That sounds delightful. We should have more bells lightly chimed around us"
