This makes me very happy. I loved GoldenEye and to see someone make a replica is just wonderful. www.theguardian.com/games/2026/a...
Agent 64: Spies Never Die review – licence to kill time like the 90s never ended
This GoldenEye 007-styled retro shooter is an agreeable set of straightahead shooting missions that hark back to a simpler time, with simpler controls

This is a fascinating article. It points, with so many other stories, to the inevitability of not just robotaxis but privately owned robocars. It's going to change things and it's difficult to see how it will be for the better. scienceblog.com/b-waymos-rob...
Waymo's robotaxis have now completed more than 20 million paid rides — and over the same distance, they caused 92% fewer pedestrian injuries than human drivers; the company is now targeting 1 million ...
The driverless taxi company says its cars are dramatically safer than human drivers, but the comparison obscures a messier reality about where autonomous vehicles actually excel.

I really thought the eclipse was fun. We should have them more often.
ANNOUNCEMENT: All our sundials will be out of order this evening between about 6pm and 8pm, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Normal service will resume tomorrow. In unrelated news, enjoy the eclipse later... Photos: Mike Selby, Annapurna Mellor, Chris Davies, John Millar
This is not going to end well for our roads. It's anticipated that self driving cars will be available for private ownership around 2030. For an electric car costing 4p per mile, you might as well send the car to pick up a pint of milk or drive 100 miles.. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Manchester mayor election. Clearly shenanigans going on. Looking forward to the details in due course.
What shenanigans must be going on in the background of the Manchester mayoral count for it to be taking all day to get to a first round result on a 25% turnout?
Hi @mrjamesob.bsky.social ,can I make a suggestion for Mystery Hour this week please?A few years ago I worked in an office that lost water supply and we had to leave after an hour as it was unsanitary. Why is Gatwick being allowed to continue to be open with no working loos or handwashing facilities?
Is it wrong that I'm actually looking forward to the half time 30 minute show?
I think one reason data center outrage is so pronounced is people spent decades recycling and composting and otherwise scrimping to offset energy use and protect clean water, and the second we hit an inflection point for cheap electricity the banking industry said we’re taking all of it, fuck you
Ah well. At least the negotiations over the Falklands won't happen for another generation.
I've been thinking about these robots. In Birmingham everything of value gets stolen if it's not nailed down. These machines have some really fancy tech inside to handle the object processing and navigation. I can see someone setting up a mini chop shop for these and flogging the chips and battery.
Tech companies: Our pavement robots are safe for pedestrians and don't get in their way! The robots:
Here's my theory about money laundering and Bob Shops. They always have loads of Costco water (£20 for 40 bottles). You pretend to sell a lot of these for, say, £2.50 each so £2 profit and put the money in the till. Bin the water and recycle the bottles. That's £2 laundered per bottle.
Bob Jenrick is not having a good day. He's really underestimated the quality of @mrjamesob.bsky.social 's audience and he can't handle them.
I can just imagine Farage and his acolytes in a smoky room thinking they can win Clacton with reasonable certainty so calling the by-election is a great plan. However, they failed to understand the lesson of the 1981 film War Games. Well played to the main parties playing as WOPR.
We might be getting two by-elections. Farage called this one. If he wins then the Standards Commissioner will continue once he's back in the house. If he's suspended then a recall petition and we are back again.
Farage didn't make an insurance claim for a car that was written off.

This is shameful, performative cruelty from a party that I used to be proud to be a member of. Billy Bragg was right then and he's right now, "I kept the faith and I kept voting, Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand." I can't vote for the iron fist. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23
Happy birthday to the heatwave of 1976 which began today 50 years ago, peaking at 35.9°C. If a comparable heatwave happened in the current climate it would be 3-4°C hotter, peaking at 38-39°C. And the actual forecast is for temperatures of 38-39°C in the next few days with a red heatwave warning.
With thanks to @martinnutbeem.bsky.social 's wife, I've followed her lead and am not messing about on the sunny side of the house.
Disappointed to see Gatwick getting approval to bring the emergency runway into use leading to a potential 100,000 more flights a year. We don't need this.
