I just made myself sad - I was thinking it'd be nice for Eid to do something new & make a little signal boost post for Muslim artists and writers and developers and creators, and then I hesitated because I know there's a real risk and threat in making a nice easy-to-collate list of Muslim creators.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
Asking because the use of "occupation" seems odd to me when there are clear examples of U.S. occupation worldwide. There are clear threats of U.S. occupation right now.

At one point today, there were 283 Minnesota attorneys doing a training on how to file emergency habeas petitions to keep our neighbors from being shipped out of state and held indefinitely. That would be the second largest law firm in the state. And that training was just put together this week.
My Mexican neighbors sometimes play music well into the early morning hours. My academic colleague commented that I should call the police on them. I said, I'm an abolishinst. Thier response, "couldn't be me" and this is how mental health providers can uphold oppression.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said. That is called murder when they do that. Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.
Everything about today feels like 2020 again... Everyone is sick, and the police/ICE are killing people. The only difference is that people have stopped calling things "unprecedented" because we've already seen this play.

it is understandable to be doomscrolling right now, but maybe try and do something else in 10 minutes? sometimes a timer helps or putting your phone in another room. You still deserve time to rest and recover.
