A lot of Seattle transit advocates seem willing and eager to wallow in doomerism. Talk to folks in other cities facing direct service cuts or transit death spirals. We have work to do, but pretending we're worse off than we are helps no one.

This feeling is why I say every Transit Opening Day is the best one. For one glorious day, our system is perfect and we have it all. We'll be back to advocating for more trains and more buses, more places, more often on Sunday. But tomorrow? Tomorrow we party.

This is indefensible crap from a single Senator who has done some good work on transit in the past so I am genuinely confused here. The Mosquito Fleet Act is a GOOD THING and the state Senate should have overruled him but won’t because he’s too powerful.

The Senate has now refused to recede their amendments. Very disappointing to see @markoliias.bsky.social be in such staunch opposition to the growth of passenger only ferries. They have the potential to be an excellent boost with regards to local economies and transit networks.

I'm starting a new awareness campaign: King County Metro buses signed with a "BASE" or "To Terminal" are in service! You can flag them down and ride! If you see a bus going in the direction you want to go, wave at the driver and ask. It's fun!

The best part of these Link Opening Day celebrations is getting to see all the people experiencing Link for the first time and seeing ridership expansion in real time. Quote of the day (while eyeing station map) “oh! We’ll be able to take the train to Chinatown soon! What a win for Redmond!”
