It might be a good time to remind you all that these three episodes exist… Www.Nothingisrealpod.Com
Just seen that I, Claudius is getting repeated on BBC4 from tonight. If you've not already watched it, you really need to.
Agree, agree and ....wait what @davidlancecallahan.bsky.social
One of the best musical performances on TV ever. Happy birthday to one of the Whatever Happened To The C86 Kids interviewees. (Another one, Dave Callahan of The Wolfhounds, is on Moog duties here.)
Paper maps are great. Never run out of juice, let you see the close up detail and the big picture at the same time (because they're three feet wide, unlike your phone), and the more you use them the more you learn your way around without them, unlike obeying a machine.
This was a fantastic and funny listen. I wish there was still another episode to look forward to.
Very positive review of Heavenly’s Portland show courtesy of @spectrumculture.bsky.social! spectrumculture.com/2026/06/29/c...
Concert Review: Heavenly - Spectrum Culture
TikTok may be a fountain of brain rot, but Heavenly’s day in Portland shows that if it can get a screaming crowd out for their career resurgence, it can’t be all bad.

This is an embarrassing image for the UK. A self-respecting British fox should be dragging Binface's contents out over the stage
I have never knowingly listened to a Frank Zappa album. This thread, genuinely fascinating as it was, has made it even less likely that I will ever do so.
Back from work and ready for a four day weekend! To celebrate, for every "like" I will post one (1) Frank Zappa related opinion.
The Royal Function Rooms has been closed since 2022. Plans have now been submitted to convert the historic Rochester venue into housing. Bob Collins sets out why he believes the venue should be protected, how residents can respond, and why this fight matters for Medway’s music and cultural life.

Thanks @mickeyundertone.bsky.social - an honour. Around this time we toyed with covering True Confessions - original EP version. Sadly (or happily) no tapes survive.
The Dentists go to the foot of their stairs. Their work of genius 'I Had An Excellent Dream' is on a great indie box set called Cut Me Deep. Came out about eighteen months ago. And it's on the Record Show again, just to cheer us up. Even if we don't need cheered up. buff.ly/L9U8iJv
This is very good news
Sharp practice... Andrew Davies's magnificent black comedy A Very Peculiar Practice gets a rerun on BBC Four tonight from 10pm. This was my tribute to the show ten years ago. Photograph of Amanda Hillwood and Peter Davison taken by Brian Moody for @radiotimes.bsky.social.
Very much looking forward to visiting North America again soon with Swansea Sound (deftly swerving World Cup dates!)
Heavenly’s west coast run of shows starts in just a few weeks, with support from Chime School in SoCal and SF (June 21-24) and The Umbrellas in the PacNW (June 26-28). Man oh man these shows will be FUN! Tix on sale now! skepwax.myshopify.com/pages/live#h...

This, from The Onion, is strangely moving.
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
If this doesn't brighten up your day nothing will. I hope all the mods in Newcastle appreciated it

The idea that Reform will moderate whatever plans they have for the civil service because Labour have done half the work for them seems....quaint.
Attorney General Richard Hermer has warned that failure by the Labour government to improve Whitehall delivery will pave the way for Reform UK to "dismantle" the civil service "We cannot leave the defence of effective government to those who would dismantle it"
This Government has already shown an extraordinary talent for Departments making policies that are disjointed and incoherent with each other. It's quite something that they are taking active steps to make that worse (1/2)
The Whitehall write-round process is to be overhauled, as PolHome first reported in November The Cabinet Office says a ripping up of "consultation culture" will "reform the process for collective Cabinet agreement of government policy to speed up decision-making"
I encourage you to reach late middle age by any means necessary if for no other reason than to find out just how primo the naps are. No matter how much you like naps now you will not believe it

Paul McCartney and Jane Asher at the premiere of ‘How I Won The War’, October 18th 1967.
This is of course arguable. But anyone who would actually *want* to argue this point is imv to be treated with some disdain.
Also, have I mentioned that "Lady-O" might be the most beautiful melody of the rock era?
Happy St Patrick’s Day from Phil Lynott! 💚
To be fair the policy of not chasing the polls has been a complete success
