Renay is nicer about it than I am, but this snide remark is loser behavior and the Hugo admins should be ashamed of themselves. As volunteers, they should know how much unpaid labor goes into a resource like this and extend grace rather than act like childish bullies

This paragraph from the admin report highlights the spreadsheet as a potential source of an error. A novel was released in a novella line. Fans treated it like a novella. Most publishers don't share word count data. The org responsible for the error, then, is Tor.

Screencap text: The Potency of Ungovernable Impulses is a novel by Malka Older, with (as best as we could determine) an estimated word count of between 68,000 and 71,000 words. However, of the 61 people who nominated the work for the Hugo Awards this year, 50 of them placed it into Best Novella, rather than Best Novel. We suspect that this is because this work was listed on the Novella page of the Hugo Spreadsheet of Doom (although at the time we checked, it was with an “unconfirmed” status). This is a particularly ironic potential source for this error, since the Hugo Spreadsheet of Doom is itself a Hugo Finalist this year in Best Related Work. Nominators may also have been led astray because of Google, as a quick search of the book’s title on Google finds it described as a Novella in multiple places.

I have to conclude that people who want to watch the new HP series are grasping at straws. JKR spends her billions erasing trans people from public life. She wants it to be illegal and unsafe for trans people to pee anywhere but their private homes.

Rowling did not make a statement. She replied to a trans woman in the comments section on Twitter. Rowling did not say anything supportive, she basically said “you were so mentally ill that the only way to cure you was surgery and hormones.” She notably did not say the woman in question is a woman

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.
