The real theme of the modern age is "Nobody Wants This". AI, ICE in airports, ICE in general, the Iran War, data centers sending actual cities wiht people into blackouts -- "nobody" wants this. And yet here we are.
I'm not sure what the dividing line is, but when I think about my time as a kid, it's very GenX-y, the experiences of millennials are foreign to me. But as an adult, the affinity seems more millennial. I /think/ this points to Eternal September being the dividing line. I had just turned 19

Trans rights are human rights and if one of is ain’t free then none of us are.
When you have an audience or a business you have to ensure that you always provide a lot more value to people than you extract from them. If you don't then, long term, it all breaks down. Young people I talk to today...they feel like the whole entire world has broken this contract with them.
Behind the fascism is an often genuine belief that replacing any support structure with a zero-sum backstabbing game will make the best people rise to the top. It’s demented.

Overestimating the attacker is gonna ruin your life because advice that absolves you is just pornography.
Most people understand that you can't motivate a child to do better by reminding them of every single bad thing they've ever done and telling them they've been stupid and worthless their whole lives Why do so many people use that same approach with the nation and expect different results?
