What ACT are seeking is actually MORE centralised control and management and bureaucracy between the general public and the wilds Because DOC has so many other jobs and so much else to do running tourist attractions &c that hunting is subject to a kind of idealised libertarian benign neglect

This is an understantable push for a party that has gone from well under 1% to comfortably above 5% on the basis mainly of votes from gun enthusiasts who hate the government (whoever is in it), but it's a bad idea because it amounts to a kind of proprietary stake in one of our few remaining commons
