There is a secret code in Donkey Kong 64 that will only play a funny noise, and nothing else. Standing next to a torch in K. Lumsy's room and pressing C-Up, D-Down, C-Left, D-Right, C-Down, D-Up, C-Right and D-Left will make a burp sound... and that's it. There are no other effects.

I'm actually fairly heartened to see in normie spaces people talking about JK Rowling honestly and describing her as a motivated bigot that funnels profits into hate crimes. I saw a writer from Variety making it very clear HP funds her hate. It feels like the tide is making a significant turn.

part of why the AI market is pushing "everybody is using it, it's inevitable" narrative: I've seen with people in my life the more you lean on it (and a lil bit slippery slopes towards more) it will make you worse at what you're doing until your output is as mediocre as anyone only using AI to do it

Customers are rejecting gen AI art, music, articles, games, scripts, etc if they still can find enough human- made alternatives. AI industry benefits if skilled people lose their advantage and stop providing alternatives. If you have experience doing a skill it will dull your ability until your work might as well be done by an untrained 20 year old asking AI. Hey, if you use Stripe for anything, just FYI that you have to *opt-out* of their new AI, which they will charge you for. You don't want Radar Standard (which is free until January, I think, and is their AI plan), you want Radar Lite. You can opt-out in your dashboard.

i hate that AI companies have muddied the word "generative" Generative art: procedural art created using a *system of mathematical rules designed intentionally* by the artist. AI-generated: created by automated systems (LLMs) using opaque, extractive processes unknown to both the user and viewer.
