Vote Democrat! They're the heroes fighting fascism. All you gotta do is sacrifice trans people. And immigrants. And homeless people. And Palestinians. And people who oppose genocide. And the environment and last hopes of mitigating the worst of climate change. There's more but I'm out of characters.

We saw this with the Biden administration on immigration and it haunted me the whole four years. All the concern for immigrants, gone like nothing, as Biden cracked down more and more, chasing voters in red hats who smirked "Let's Go, Brandon."

If democrats put us trannies in the camps, everyone will celebrate, if republicans put is in the camps, everyone whose only thought is "orange man bad" will fight for us.

one of the things that's particularly Hitlerian about Trump 2 is the way that irrational and counterproductive aggression can win startling early advantages, since everyone assumed that you wouldn't be stupid enough to try it, so they didn't bother to prevent you, but then. but then!

hearing someone say they regularly talk to ai chatbots for anything does feel like they just rolled up their sleeve to reveal a festering zombie bite

i really struggle to understand how anyone could behave this way. i mean, intellectually, i get it. i research monsters for a living. i know they’re real. but imagine slamming the cage door in a crying child’s face, having just confiscated her crayons. and then going home to your own family???

NEW: Guards have taken away crayons, colored pencils & paper during recent room searches at Dilley, according to detainees and others. After one inspection, the children just “cried and cried and cried,” a mother said. The facility denies the claims. By @mckenziefunk.com @micarosenberg.bsky.social

I've been saying it a lot, but these deaths line up with what happened in early concentration camps during other regimes: Deaths from poor conditions, disease, or abuse. These deaths are not accidental. They are the direct result of a camp system that is designed to harm those being imprisoned.

I received notification of yet another death at an ICE facility, meaning 38 people have died in custody since Trump returned to office. ICE is failing to ensure the health and safety of the people it is responsible for. We need immediate oversight of this entire operation.

it's backwards. obama and biden conceded the republican framework of border obsession, sliding right and setting off a near-inevitable push to where we are today. once again the democrats triangulated themselves into becoming republicans, allowing republicans to publicly embrace explicit fascism.

To me the chatbots pose zero interesting questions about the ‘nature of selfhood’ but dozens about the nature of manipulation. Here the Claude team pretends they are programming the robot for ethical responses but they land on one that is false and disingenuous.

including animals. Among Claude's rigid directives are to be honest and to "never claim to be human. "Imagine, Askell said, a user grieving the loss of her beloved dog. Claude might offer a consolation like "Oh, I almost lost my dog once." Askell said, "No, you didn't!
It's weird when you say that." At the other end of the spectrum was a chatbot who said, "As an A.I., I have no experience of losing a dog. "That, too, wasn't right: "No! You're trained on a lot of text about losing dogs. "What you wanted Claude to say, she continued, was something like "As an A.I., I do not have direct personal experiences, but I do understand." THREAD. One of the great propaganda myths of our society is that police spend their time dealing with "violent crime." ICE is no different. "Violence" is a pretext to sell it. Did you know that only 4% of all police time in the U.S. is devoted to "violent crime"?

chart showing that fewer than 14% of ICE arrests are someone accused of violence.

As the negotiations over DHS budget continue, please remember: the ICE detention budget alone was exploded in 2025 so it is now 62% greater than the entire Bureau of Prisons. People are not clocking what this infusion of cash to build concentration camps will do to our society.

If you're wondering how it's going with The Facebook Libs, I saw more than one assert confidently in the last week or two that Alex Peretti should have been arrested and charged for (allegedly) kicking out a tail-light on a vehicle in one of ICE's roving racist kidnap patrols. 1/6
