This from the Minister of Foreign Affairs is galling. Even if you accept that she's somehow at fault, is the NZ Government okay that someone be imprisoned for 6+ weeks rather than simply refused entry and turned back? But also, DECLARE WHERE? Green Card holders don't complete arrival paperwork!

A different approach to this story might be that a Kiwi who has every reason to expect to enter the US is being held in inhumane conditions with apparently zero recourse to not be held in those conditions and our Foreign Minister, instead of sorting it out is choosing to make the situation worse.

We’ve got three small-ish dogs of different breeds and a large LG OLED TV (120Hz refresh rate). Why is it one dog recognises pretty much every animal in all forms - film, still, cartoon etc (and barks at it) and the others just sit there and clearly don’t see what he does ?

A couple points on this manifesto, apart from the racial superiority subtext others noted. Palantir is a company built on public contracts, they bill the state billions to surveil and target the state's population. The manifesto exists to justify their demand for even more. /1

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

At Kennedy Space Center astronauts have to take elevators to the top of launch pad towers in order to enter their space capsules before lift off. This is the elevator panel at Pad 39A.

This is Molly. She was finally found a week after her human fell down a 180-foot waterfall while hiking together in New Zealand. Her human was badly injured and rescued by helicopter, but Molly was missing. A week later, Molly was found at the base of the waterfall and reunited with her human. 14/10
