Manchester mayoral results, first round Bev Craig - Labour 47% (+24 vs local elections) Reform 21% (-10) Green 12% (-7) Restore 9% (new) Conservative 8% (-3) Lib Dem 3% (-7)

Rowling looming over a progressive Irish cultural festival with her menacing insinuations & a phalanx of expensive lawyers dashing off legal letters. And all because the organisers don’t want transphobes peddling hate at their event. A nauseating spectacle of spite.

It's fascinating to watch commentators who sat completely silently for a decade as the Conservative Government changed its leader four times in a row mid-term, now suddenly discover such a keen interest in the concepts of 'mandates' and 'legitimacy'

Stop Sex Matters spreading transphobic hate @goodlawproject.org have identified 46 examples, including harassment and discrimination, which they think break charity law. Email the Charity Commission and the culture minister now, and make sure they stop charities spreading hate.

Stop Sex Matters spreading transphobic hate

The anti-trans pressure group Sex Matters are running a campaign of hate, spewing abuse online and in the media – and putting trans people in danger. Sex Matters say they work to “protect everybody’s ...

Wes Streeting in Defence is certainly a choice, in his role as Health Secretary he worked tirelessly to harm disabled and vulnerable people, and he took on a personal crusade to block access to life saving treatment for LGBTQ+ patients. Burnham failing to impress so far.

So that just happened. When we told them that we couldn't accept any financial donations for our blocklist, a very dear subscriber went and commissioned this fantastic custom artwork for us, of our favourite iconic Brexit image from @smolrobots. Introducing Braybot! @snb19692

512) Arguebot. Is someone in your life insisting on arguing about something that you don't have the time or energy to care about? Let this robot step in for you and keep them occupied with its tireless dedication to whatever contrary position you choose. Don't buy two. #SmallRobotsRemastered

A round-topped robot with short, banded arms and legs and a little zigzag antenna. It's holding out one hand and pointing with the other, mouth wide open, its face contorted into an expression of belligerent fury.

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

It tells you everything you need to know about the state of British society when the Anne Frank Trust has to step in because of the dehumanising attacks on the LGBT community. What a disgrace we’ve become

Hahaha! “Drop everything in a genuine, competitive and important mayoral election in Manchester and come and help me argue with a bin in Clacton!” screams Farage as he once again prioritises his own monstrous ego over being a serious party that can cope under pressure. Nasty clowncar falls apart.

Jessica Elgot@jessicaelgot.bsky.social · 4w ago

Scoop from @joshhalliday.bsky.social Reform activists urged to divert from GM mayoral by-election to help Farage in Clacton. Leaked WhatsApp: “The message could not be more clear. We now need all of our fantastic activists to come and help us in Clacton.” www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

So Farage got a free 30-minute advert on the BBC. No journalist will do any checking of any of his claims, and it doesn't matter, anyway, because he's already used all broadcast media to get his message out.

Farage resigns his seat in Clacton forcing a by election which he ... er plans to stand in. Huge performative cost to the taxpayers to feather his ego. I hope it backfires spectacularly

A British teacher has been banned from the profession after telling pupils that gay and trans people are "mentally ill" during a classroom discussion, with a disciplinary panel finding the comments amounted to discriminatory behaviour.

Once again I am at a Kemi Badenoch speech, this time in London Bridge, on defence. Once again it’s packed with the faithful. Once again - I imagine - it will be received with rapture. Once again, my guess is, it will create almost no news and have virtually zero impact on the poll ratings.
